Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kosonen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Carter looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Carter accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

I looks like Kosonen might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Kosonen postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Carter looks a forlorn figure.

Kosonen lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pekka Kosonen dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Kosonen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Kosonen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Carter tries to avoid it but Kosonen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Carter to the ground. Carter escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Carter slaps away a takedown attempt from Kosonen, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Carter takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Kosonen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Carter is trying to hold Kosonen in close to prevent damage but Kosonen has managed to pass into half guard.

Carter is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Kosonen scores with a couple of nice shots.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
You can see the frustration on Carter's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Kosonen scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Carter to see if he's OK.

Kosonen swings around for an armbar but Carter sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Kosonen's guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Kosonen tries to clinch but Carter moves out of range.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Kosonen!

and Kosonen holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Kosonen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kosonen tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Carter swivels and escapes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pekka Kosonen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Kosonen throws a hook but Carter avoids it easily.

and Kosonen counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Carter is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Kosonen had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Carter defends it easily.

Carter postures up in Kosonen's guard and throws a big left but Kosonen blocks it.

Kosonen is landing with some decent strikes but Carter is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Kosonen takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Carter sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Carter manages to work his way to half guard, despite Kosonen's best efforts.
Carter slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Kosonen distracts Carter with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Kosonen throws a strike but Carter rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Kosonen is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Carter moves into full guard.
Kosonen wants to control from the top but Carter keeps moving.

And that's the end of the fight!
Pekka Kosonen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kosonen has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
