Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Knight!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson misses with a series of wild punches.
Mike Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Johnson misses with a two punch combination.
Knight takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Knight tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Johnson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Knight shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Johnson but Johnson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Knight shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Johnson pinned against the cage. Johnson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Some wild striking there from Johnson.
Johnson throws a right and a left that both miss.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson throws a shot to the body.
Knight fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Johnson.
Knight stuffs the takedown.
Johnson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Johnson looks gassed!
Knight gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Johnson counters with a stiff right hand.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Knight. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Knight misses with a takedown attempt

and Johnson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Knight!
Knight wants to control but Johnson is having none of it.

Johnson avoids the attempt from Knight to control.
Knight manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Johnson not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Johnson thows a huge punch but Knight dodges it nicely.
Knight is pressing down on Johnson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Knight is trying to keep Johnson in close.
Knight working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Johnson.
Johnson wants to stand but Knight has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Knight kicks Johnson off and gets to his feet.
Knight fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Johnson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Knight.
Johnson scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Johnson forces Knight back against the cage and clinches.
Johnson prevents the takedown attempt.
Johnson is trying to break the clinch but Knight is controlling him.
Johnson takes an elbow to the forehead.
Knight keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Johnson's efforts to push away.

Johnson breaks from the clinch.
Knight is trying hard to land a takedown here. Johnson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Johnson misses with the combination.
Johnson lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Johnson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Knight tries to clinch there but Johnson circles away.

Knight closes the distance and pushes Johnson back into the cage.
Knight fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Johnson tries to break free but Knight pushes him back against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Johnson has had enough of the clinch but Knight keeps him there for the moment.

Knight's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Knight is desperately trying to improve his position but Johnson has a good base and remains in mount.
Johnson misses with a head shot.
Knight is looking to get to half guard.
Johnson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Knight. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Johnson thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Johnson throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Johnson dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Knight with a poor takedown

so Johnson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Knight controls Johnson momentarily but Johnson frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Knight lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Johnson!
Knight lands a big shot there that rocks Johnson but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Knight blocks Johnson's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Johnson trying desperately to get to his feet.
Knight looking to control but Johnson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Johnson's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Knight trying to control but Johnson is having none of it.
Johnson is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Knight swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
