The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Polski circles away from the clinch attempt.
Machida gets a takedown into half guard. Machida is looking to advance position but Polski won't allow it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Polski looks like he's trying to stand up.
Machida wants to take a breather but Polski is having none of it. Well, if Machida is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Polski trying to hold on to Machida's head to control him but Machida postures up.
Machida looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Polski is looking to control Machida's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Polski avoid being mounted?
That's one minute gone in the round. Polski is looking for a sweep. Machida is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Machida shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Machida showed some decent athleticism there. Polski is trying to maintain the position but Machida is very close to passing his half guard. Machida is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Polski defends it well. Machida is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Polski gets full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Machida trying to control the position from guard on top but Polski is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Machida avoids a kick to the body.

Polski bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Machida's head. Polski swats away the attempt to clinch by Machida. Polski shoots in looking for a takedown. Machida tries to sprawl out of it but Polski keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Machida manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Machida defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Polski. Machida misses with a head kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Polski changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Machida looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Machida is breathing heavily. Machida tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Polski working the ground and pound effectively.
Polski throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Machida knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Polski on the ground. Polski sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Lyoto Machida will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Polski changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Machida looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. You can see the frustration on Machida's face as Polski controls the position. Polski stands up. Polski shoots for a takedown but Machida saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Left hook, right uppercut from Polski. Polski is breathing heavily. Polski doesn't manage to clinch there - Machida circles away.
Machida throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Polski tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Machida paws at him with a jab and circles away. Horrible takedown by Polski or perhaps it was just good defense by Machida which made him look bad.

Machida closes the distance but Polski moves to the side and Polski counters with a single leg into guard. Machida didn't expect that. Machida pulls Polski in close to prevent any damage. Polski wants to control from the top but Machida keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Machida wants to sweep but no luck. Polski pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Machida is keeping the position for now.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Machida throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Polski.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Polski is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Machida's half guard. Polski wants to pass to mount but Machida is defending the position. Polski wants to control but Machida is keeping him busy. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Robert Polski showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Machida's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Polski misses with a series of wild punches.
Machida shoots and misses and Polski counters by clinching up. Polski tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Machida just stands there and leans against the cage. Polski has clasped his hands together around Machida's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Machida throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Machida throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Polski. Polski shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Machida fails with the takedown and Polski counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Polski trying to mount his opponent but Machida defends it. Polski passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Machida! Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Machida avoids a series of strikes thrown by Polski.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Polski lands a big elbow. Polski tries to control but Machida wriggling away. Polski is working for a guillotine from mount but Machida frees his head quite easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Polski controlling the pace for now. Machida is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Polski content just to control the position here. Machida is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Polski has taken his back! Machida avoids the strikes from Polski.
And that's the end of the fight! Robert Polski comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Polski has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
