Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryan Bellseti! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Edman! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, William Peck and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bellseti lands with a slapping head kick.
It looks like Paul Edman has been cut. Edman avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Edman lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Edman should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Edman stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Edman wants it to stay on the feet. The fight stays on the outside here - Edman looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Edman scores with a three punch combo!
Edman looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Bellseti fails with an attempt to clinch.
Edman feints and as Bellseti raises his hands in defense, Edman changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Bellseti can't keep his opponent in guard - Edman advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Edman decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Edman closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Bellseti managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Edman.
Bellseti is not content to let Edman control the position. Edman looks gassed! Bellseti tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Edman wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bellseti can't do much from the bottom here. Edman tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Edman has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Bellseti is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Bellseti throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
Edman creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Bellseti sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Edman has managed to clinch.
Edman is trying to force a seperation but Bellseti has the dominant position. Edman fails to pull guard.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Edman has eaten all the pies! Bellseti breaks from the clinch.
A combination from Edman does no damage. Bellseti tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Edman decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bellseti's guard. Bellseti is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Edman trying to get back to full guard but Bellseti takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Bellseti has hold of Edman's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Edman manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Edman is bucking up trying to escape but Bellseti cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Edman takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Bellseti avoids the attempt from Edman to control. Bellseti punishing his opponent with strikes. Bellseti lands with some strikes. Bellseti trying to control but he's not successful this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bellseti is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Edman can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Edman is just holding on here. Bellseti manages to take his back.
Bellseti missing with strikes from the back. Edman covering up well under a barage of strikes. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Edman grimaces as he takes a shot to the body. Bellseti scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Ryan Bellseti will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Paul Edman's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Bellseti closes the distance and clinches. Bellseti is pressed up against the cage. Edman has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Bellseti down to the mat. Bellseti avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Edman drives through with a takedown into guard. Edman cracks Bellseti with a solid left hand. Edman postures up.
Bellseti will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Bellseti looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Bellseti keeping moving, preventing Edman from controlling successfully. Bellseti working a defensive guard here.
Bellseti will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Edman trying to control but Bellseti is working from the bottom.

The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Edman pushes Bellseti off looking to stand but Bellseti dives back in and keeps control.
Bellseti is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Edman is just riding it out for now. Bellseti eventually gives up the hold. Bellseti is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Edman reverses the position - he's now on top in Bellseti's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Edman trying to control the position from guard on top but Bellseti is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bellseti striking off his back but it's not causing Edman any problems. Bellseti is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Bellseti taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Bellseti breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Bellseti tries to clinch but Edman moves away and Edman counters with a single leg into guard. Bellseti didn't expect that. Edman sitting in guard, not really doing much. Bellseti keeping moving, preventing Edman from controlling successfully.

Paul Edman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Paul Edman's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Bellseti throws a nice looking combination but Edman bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Edman closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Edman decides to stand up, so the ref orders Bellseti to his feet. Edman throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
A head kick by Bellseti misses and Edman counters with a nice low kick that buckles Bellseti's knee momentarily. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Bellseti tries for a takedown but Edman circles away easily and Edman counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Edman. Edman looking for a takedown.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bellseti just leaning against Edman, taking a breather. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Bellseti has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Edman avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Edman tries to pull guard but Bellseti holds him up against the cage and eventually Edman drops back down to his feet.
Bellseti wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Edman has him pressed against the cage. Edman drops down looking for an ankle pick but Bellseti pulls his leg out and moves away.
Ryan Bellseti has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Edman. Bellseti tries to clinch but Edman is having none of it. Bellseti tries to close the distance and clinch but Edman swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Nice takedown defense from Edman. No joy for Bellseti on that attempt. Ryan Bellseti is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. The fight moves into the clinch position. Edman drops down looking for an ankle pick but Bellseti pulls his leg out and moves away.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Edman tries to pull guard but Bellseti won't allow it.

Edman gets in close and instigates a clinch. Bellseti wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Edman wants a takedown but no success here.
Bellseti unloads a knee to the mid-section. Edman lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Bellseti will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Edman up against the cage. Bellseti ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Bellseti no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Edman with a flurry of punches that miss. Bellseti is looking to stand up but Edman isn't so interested in that idea. Bellseti looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Bellseti throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Edman not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Edman passes Bellseti's left leg - he's now in half guard. Bellseti is refusing to be controlled, as Edman sits in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Bellseti moves into full guard.
Edman thows a big elbow that misses. Bellseti is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Edman wants to control from the top but Bellseti keeps moving. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Edman's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Bellseti wants to sweep but no luck. Bellseti is looking to sweep but instead, Edman has passed into half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Paul Edman comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Edman has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
