PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gerard Merde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Angus Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Merde comes to the cage accompanied by Mötorhead's Burner. Khan has chosen Reign in Blood by Slayer as his entrance music. Angus Khan will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Angus Khan!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Merde slaps away a takedown attempt from Khan, before circling back to the center of the mat.
The fighters circling - Merde throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Merde lands a lovely overhand right.
Khan lands with an uppercut that bounces Merde off the cage and back into rage.


It looks like Gerard Merde has been cut.

Merde works the jab nicely.
Khan throws a series of punches but Merde avoids them all with ease.
Khan swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Khan throws a nice looking combination but Merde bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Merde shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Merde showed some decent athleticism there.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Merde drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Khan lands a left and a right that send Merde crashing to the mat, dazed. Khan thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Khan moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

You can see the frustration on Khan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Khan parries the strikes from Merde easily there. Merde is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Khan to escape.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Merde paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Khan swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Khan swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Khan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Merde gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Merde stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Khan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
