PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dayton Montana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daizu Mitsusada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mitsusada has chosen A-Punk as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Dayton Montana!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 1, fighting out of New York, Daizu Mitsusada!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Montana shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mitsusada manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Mitsusada is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Montana throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mitsusada works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Mitsusada manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Montana manages to get himself to full guard.
Mitsusada is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Montana throws a one two combo.
Montana lands a jab to Mitsusada's midsection.
Mitsusada throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Mitsusada lands with a right hand.
Montana misses the shot to the body.

Mitsusada thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Montana if he has to take too many more of those.
Mitsusada throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Mitsusada throws and low kick but Montana moves out of range easily.
Mitsusada swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Mitsusada tests Montana's chin there with a solid looking shot.

and Montana counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Mitsusada throws a right hand that Montana ducks under and follows up with a left that Montana also avoids with ease.
Daizu Mitsusada seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Montana takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Mitsusada throws an overhand right that lands on Montana's shoulder, as Montana tries to avoid the shot.

Mitsusada looks for a takedown but Montana sprawls well.

Montana shoots for a takedown but Mitsusada saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Montana drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Mitsusada tries to land a front kick but Montana steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

and Montana cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Mitsusada tries a head kick but it misses.
Montana jabs Mitsusada right on the nose. Mitsusada blinks but takes it well.

Mitsusada closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Montana did well to prevent Mitsusada getting side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mitsusada is working for a submission of some sort.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mitsusada is trying to control. Montana wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daizu Mitsusada dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Montana takes one to the chin there.
A bone on bone clash there as Montana blocks the leg kick.

and Mitsusada counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Mitsusada wants to pass to mount but Montana is defending the position.
Montana is trying to get back to full guard.

Mitsusada is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Montana tries to get to full guard but Mitsusada has control of the leg.

Montana is looking to improve his position.
Mitsusada is looking to pass Montana's guard but actually Montana recovers to full guard.
Montana seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mitsusada lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Montana circles away quickly and effectively.
Montana missing with a left hand there. Mitsusada was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Mitsusada tries a head kick but it misses.
Mitsusada lands a two punch combo.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mitsusada uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Montana.
Mitsusada looks to land a right hand but Montana moved out of range.
Montana loads up on a big right hand but Mitsusada slips the punch.

Montana gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Mitsusada drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Mitsusada seems to have locked his on tight now - Montana screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Mitsusada, as he picks up the win!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Daizu Mitsusada!
