Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Laurent Tsadyleba! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ricardo Gracie! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tsadyleba shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Tsadyleba sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Gracie defending well though. Tsadyleba decides to return to a standing position. Gracie misses with a takedown and Tsadyleba counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Tsadyleba. Tsadyleba wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving. Tsadyleba is stalling in the full guard. Tsadyleba stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gracie swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tsadyleba trying to control but Gracie is working from the bottom. Tsadyleba is really struggling to control Gracie but he's trying to hold on to the position. Tsadyleba has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Tsadyleba sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gracie's guard. Tsadyleba wants to work for an arm triangle but Gracie is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Tsadyleba decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Gracie is positioning himself well to prevent Tsadyleba advancing to mount. Tsadyleba takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tsadyleba slips a nice elbow through Gracie's hands, connecting with Gracie's forehead. Tsadyleba is keen to just control but Gracie is a slippery customer. Tsadyleba is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Tsadyleba is breathing heavily. Tsadyleba not landing any meaningful shots this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Gracie controlling the position for now. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Tsadyleba not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Tsadyleba throwing shots but Gracie is blocking nicely.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Gracie looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Gracie is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Tsadyleba is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Tsadyleba has escaped and now he's on top! Tsadyleba wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Laurent Tsadyleba dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Gracie has his takedown stuffed and Tsadyleba counters with a slapping leg kick. Tsadyleba shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Gracie napping and manages to drive through into side control! Tsadyleba wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gracie keeps working. Tsadyleba has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Tsadyleba pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gracie closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Tsadyleba to the mat! Tsadyleba manages to get full guard. Tsadyleba is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Tsadyleba doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Tsadyleba is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gracie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Gracie throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Tsadyleba works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Gracie postures up.
Laurent Tsadyleba overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Tsadyleba is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Tsadyleba is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Tsadyleba fails with a takedown attempt. Tsadyleba is looking to clinch but Gracie is avoiding it.
Gracie gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Tsadyleba counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Tsadyleba prevents a takedown attempt there.
Laurent Tsadyleba has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ricardo Gracie. Tsadyleba drags the fight down to the ground.
Tsadyleba seems keen to control Gracie's posture. Tsadyleba is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Gracie rolls with it to try and escape but Tsadyleba cranks on the arm and Gracie is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
