Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alej Ramirez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddie Maiden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alej Ramirez looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alej Ramirez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eddie Maiden! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Winston Howard and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maiden swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Maiden shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ramirez as he avoids it easily. Eddie Maiden seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Maiden fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Maiden misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Alej Ramirez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eddie Maiden. Maiden moves into range and clinches up with Ramirez. Maiden trying to land knees to the body.

Maiden looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Ramirez! Maiden stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. Maiden looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Ramirez lands with a heel strike from the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maiden drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Maiden jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Maiden postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Maiden seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Maiden must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Ramirez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Ramirez is working an open guard so Maiden takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Maiden looks gassed! Ramirez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Ramirez looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Ramirez has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ramirez with a lazy takedown attempt and Maiden counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Maiden works his way into side control. Maiden scores with a couple of short elbows. Maiden advances to mount. Maiden looking for a guillotine from mount but Ramirez is having none of it. Maiden working for a submission but Ramirez is keeping him at bay.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. The referee warns Ramirez that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Ramirez swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. BOOM! Maiden connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Ramirez is trying desperately to improve position. Maiden lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Ramirez hang on? Maiden landing shots from mount. Ramirez tries to get back to half guard but can't. Maiden with a couple of short strikes. Ramirez is bucking up trying to escape but Maiden cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Maiden looking to control but Ramirez is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Maiden unloading with bombs!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ramirez tries to lock up and control but Maiden gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Maiden takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Ramirez is desperately trying to improve his position but Maiden has a good base and remains in mount. Maiden raining down shots from the mount! Ramirez is looking to improve his position but Maiden isn't that keen on the idea. Maiden get's back to his feet. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Maiden shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ramirez's guard. Ramirez keeping moving, preventing Maiden from controlling successfully. Ramirez looking to control.

Maiden tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ramirez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Maiden somewhat. Ramirez doesn't succeed with the takedown and Maiden counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Eddie Maiden has got the better of the ground game so far. Ramirez looking for submissions off his back. Ramirez won't allow Maiden to pass to mount. Maiden seems to be working for a kimura but Ramirez defends the submission attempt. Ramirez trying to hold on to Maiden's head to control him but Maiden postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ramirez actively working from the bottom here. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ramirez is trying to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maiden is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Maiden shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Ramirez counters with a single leg into guard. Maiden didn't expect that. Ramirez preventing the sweep. Maiden wants to stand up but Ramirez is controlling him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ramirez pushing down on Maiden's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Maiden trying to hold on to Ramirez's head to control him but Ramirez postures up.
Ramirez wants to pass the guard but Maiden is defending well. Maiden controlling the position for now. Ramirez is trying to work for a kimura but Maiden is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ramirez is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Maiden is looking to escape. Maiden gets full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Ramirez stands and steps away. Maiden gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Maiden shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Maiden showed some decent athleticism there. Maiden lands strikes from half guard. Maiden keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Maiden wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ramirez keeps working. Maiden throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Maiden wants to control but Ramirez is keeping him busy. Maiden missing with the ground and pound from half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Eddie Maiden showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Ramirez shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Maiden tries to buck Ramirez off but he can't manage it. Ramirez throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Ramirez throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Maiden because Ramirez loaded up on that one. Maiden wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

That's one minute gone in the round. Maiden tries to reverse the position but Ramirez maintains control. Ramirez tries to control but Maiden wriggling away. Maiden really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Maiden wants to get back to his feet.
Ramirez takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Maiden is working to get back to half guard.
Ramirez swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Maiden is now in Ramirez's guard. A big mistake from Ramirez there, giving up the dominant position! Ramirez looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Ramirez is looking for a triangle but Maiden pushes his legs off easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maiden throwing strikes but missing. Maiden throws and elbow that misses. Ramirez uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Maiden's guard. Nice move by Ramirez! Maiden wants to sweep but no luck. Maiden is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Maiden trying to control the position.
Maiden wants to stand up but Ramirez is controlling him.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Ramirez gets the takedown into side control. Eddie Maiden is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Maiden tries to buck Ramirez off but Ramirez is having none of it. Maiden throws Ramirez to one side and escapes! Maiden gets the takedown into side control. Maiden is working Ramirez over with some ground and pound from side control. Maiden lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. You can see the frustration on Ramirez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Alej Ramirez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Ramirez wants to get back to his feet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ramirez is not content to let Maiden control the position.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alej Ramirez. I think Maiden has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
