Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Young! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sydney Fields! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fields tries to work over Young's front leg with a kick but Young checks it. A head kick from Fields lands but Young takes it in his stride. Fields tries to clinch up. Fields showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Young.
Young throws a nice looking combination but Fields bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Young throws a right and a left that Fields avoids nicely. Young misses with the combination.
Fields throws a head kick that misses. Fields scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Fields tries to score with some ground and pound. Young controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Young is looking to regain half guard here but Fields keeps moving and retains side control. Fields wants to lay and pray for a moment but Young keeps working. Fields has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Young tries to bench press Fields off him but Fields keeps the position. Fields throws a strike aimed at the side of Young's head but Young avoids it well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fields working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Fields tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Fields has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Fields wants to control but Young is keeping him busy.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Young throws a head kick that misses and Fields counters by clinching up. With the fighters up against the ropes, Fields throws an elbow but misses. Fields throws an elbow that misses.
Young is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes. Young breaks the clinch.
Fields shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Fields showed some decent athleticism there. Young is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fields seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Young does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Young is in trouble now - Fields has advanced to mount! Young sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Fields sitting and controlling from the half guard. Young keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Young regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Fields. Fields with a flurry of punches that miss. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Young lands a left and a right that send Fields crashing to the mat, dazed. Young thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Sydney Fields has been cut. Nice defenses there by Fields. Fields has Young up against the ropes in a clinch.
Fields gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Fields loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Fields scoring with punches to the head and body. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Young wants to stand but Fields is controlling the position. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Young kicks Fields off and gets to his feet. Young misses with a two punch combination.
Fields rushes Young and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch. Fields working Young over with knees to the body. Fields keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Young's efforts to push away. Young manages to break the clinch.
Young throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Fields. Young throws a right and a left that Fields avoids nicely. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Young tries to break free but Fields pushes him back against the ropes. Young wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Fields has him pressed against the ropes. Young is trying to break the clinch but Fields is controlling him. Fields prevents Young from breaking the clinch. Fields has Young pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. Young manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Young is trying to force a seperation but Fields has the dominant position. Young has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Fields lands a good knee to the midsection. Young won't want to take too many of those. Fields has clasped his hands together around Young's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Fields working the body and head with strikes. Young controls the position for a moment. Young prevents Fields from moving into mount. Young tries to bench press Fields off him but Fields keeps the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fields trying to control the position but Young is working away. Fields connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Young some visible discomfort.
Fields advances to mount. Fields putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Fields looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Fields punishing his opponent with strikes. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Fields is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Young is surviving well by controlling Fields's body position as best he can. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Fields looking to land elbow strikes but Young uses the position to regain half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fields closes the distance and clinches up with Young, looking for a takedown. Fields pushes Young against the ropes but Young circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. That's going to take a lot out of Sydney Fields. Young looks to land a combination but Fields avoids it well. Fields takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Young throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Fields shoots in for a takedown but Young shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Young looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Young will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Fields wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Young, who protects the arm well. Young is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Young is looking to reverse the position. Young struggling a bit here. Young taking punishment in the form of punches.

That's going to take a lot out of Sydney Fields. Young throws a right hand that Fields ducks under and follows up with a left that Fields also avoids with ease. Fields is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Young misses with the combination.

Young throws and low kick but Fields moves out of range easily. Fields closes the distance and clinches up with Young, looking for a takedown. Fields pushes Young against the ropes but Young circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Fields takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. A combination from Young does no damage. A decent looking cross lands there for Young. Good standup being displayed there by Fields as he connects with a hook. A nice combination there by Young.

Fields tries to close the distance and clinch up but Young swats him away and circles back towards the center. Fields closes the distance and pushes Young back into the ropes. Fields is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Young's half guard. Fields working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Fields is trying to control the action in half guard but Young is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Young blocking the ground and pound attempt from Fields. Young tries to kick Fields off but Fields keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Fields drops an elbow to the side of Young's head. Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Fields wants to work for an arm triangle but Young is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Young shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Fields as he jumps to the side. Fields lands a head kick. Young smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Fields tries to clinch there but Young circles away.
Fields lands the left hand. Fields tries to close the distance and clinch but Young swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Fields shoots and misses and Young counters with a left and a right that stings Fields. Young fails to land with a series of punches.
Fields shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Fields was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fields lands a big shot there that rocks Young but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Young can't escape the position.
Fields working for a submission but Young is keeping him at bay. Young regains half guard. Fields throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Fields is looking to take a break and control but Young is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that's the end of the fight! Sydney Fields comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Fields has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
