Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matthew McPain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andrei Emelianenko!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McPain lands a head kick. Emelianenko smiles back at him and beckons him forward.


It looks like Andrei Emelianenko has been cut.
McPain is looking to land body kicks.
McPain has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

McPain shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

McPain is looking for a kimura but Emelianenko is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for McPain to get the leverage.
McPain is taking a breather. Emelianenko says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
McPain wants to pass the guard but Emelianenko is defending well.

McPain has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
McPain throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

McPain looks up at the clock and then as Emelianenko takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, McPain smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

McPain is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Emelianenko sees it coming and defends easily.
McPain is breathing heavily.

McPain trying to control the position from guard on top but Emelianenko is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

McPain passes Emelianenko's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Emelianenko is defending against the submission attempts here by McPain.
McPain lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


McPain throws a head kick but Emelianenko moves out of range.
Emelianenko takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
McPain throws a head kick that half lands.
Emelianenko seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. McPain shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Emelianenko is backing up but McPain catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Emelianenko covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! McPain Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Matthew McPain!
