Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, joe silva! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Amaral! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Lou da Vinci and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! silva shoots for a takedown but Amaral saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. silva has a takedown stuffed. silva scores a takedown into full mount! We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. silva won't let Amaral get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. silva misses with a head shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. silva swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Amaral is now in silva's guard. A big mistake from silva there, giving up the dominant position! Amaral not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. silva working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Amaral doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Amaral manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. silva knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Amaral on the ground. Amaral showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. I looks like Amaral might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. silva not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
silva wants to stand but Amaral is controlling the position. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Amaral accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Amaral keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of silva's head. Amaral controlling from the top position. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Amaral passes into half guard. silva is looking to get back to full guard here but Amaral has managed to pass to side control instead. silva is breathing heavily. Amaral sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. silva is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Amaral controlling from the full mount. Amaral lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Amaral cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Despite being in the dominant position, Jason Amaral just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Amaral gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and silva counters into the clinch. Nicely done. silva is fighting off a takedown attempt but Amaral is just too persistent for him and manages to trip silva to the mat. silva regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Amaral postures up.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from silva. silva fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Amaral circles away from the clinch attempt.
Amaral has a takedown stuffed. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. silva looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for joe silva. That's going to take a lot out of him. silva tries for a takedown but Amaral circles away easily and Amaral counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in silva's guard now. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Amaral's corner is telling him to maintain position. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Amaral. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Amaral postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. silva on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if silva tries to get out of the position. Amaral is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. silva throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Amaral is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Amaral missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. silva wants to stand up but Amaral is controlling him. Amaral controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Amaral won't allow silva to sweep him here. silva trying to control the position.
Amaral is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Amaral is taking a breather. silva says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Amaral passes to full mount!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Amaral controlling from mount. Amaral landing strikes from the mount and silva is in trouble! silva is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Jason Amaral showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. A combination from silva does no damage. silva has a takedown stuffed. silva pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Amaral looks for a takedown but silva sprawls well. Amaral avoids a punch combination nicely.
Amaral takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. silva darts in trying to clinch and Amaral moves into the clinch. silva looking to stall.

Amaral keeping moving, preventing silva from controlling successfully. joe silva has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jason Amaral is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. silva wants to stand but Amaral has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
And that's the end of the fight! Jason Amaral comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Amaral has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
