Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ashton Bell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Greg St Peter! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Winston Howard and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bell finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
St Peter tries to clinch but Bell moves out of range. St Peter tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. St Peter ducks under a wild hook from Bell. St Peter dodges the punch combination from Bell.
Ashton Bell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. St Peter changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bell tries to avoid it but St Peter manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bell to the ground. Bell escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. St Peter throws a series of punches but Bell moves out of range. Bell misses with a series of wild punches.
Bell stuffs the takedown. Bell misses with a straight right. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. St Peter tries to move into range but Bell moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
It looks like Greg St Peter has been cut. St Peter throws a hook to the side of Bell's head but Bell sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Bell falls off balance throwing a combination
and St Peter counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Bell is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bell throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
St Peter wants to stand but Bell has a closed guard, so he can't escape. St Peter throwing strikes but missing. Bell avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bell lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for St Peter! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bell goes for an armbar but he's not got it… St Peter turns into him and now he's in Bell's guard.

St Peter is looking to stand up but Bell won't let him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bell had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. St Peter defends it easily. Bell working a defensive guard here.
Bell is breathing heavily. Bell looking for submissions from the bottom but instead St Peter passes into half guard.
St Peter is trying to control the action in half guard but Bell is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bell wants to get back to his feet. Bell punching from the bottom.
St Peter stalling away here and it's allowed Bell to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. St Peter looking to pass the guard. Bell is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Bell utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ashton Bell dominated that round. The cut man is working on Greg St Peter's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
St Peter walks into a stiff left hand from Bell. Bell throws out a loose jab but St Peter uses good head movement to avoid it. Bell takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Bell getting the better of the striking in that exchange. St Peter closes the distance and clinches up with Bell, looking for a takedown. St Peter pushes Bell against the cage but Bell circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. St Peter takes one on the button. St Peter throws a leg kick which misses Bell's front leg but catches the back leg as Bell tries to avoid it. Bell stuffs the takedown attempt from St Peter. St Peter gets slowly back to his feet. St Peter lands with a slapping head kick. St Peter is trying hard to land a takedown here. Bell sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Ashton Bell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Greg St Peter. St Peter is breathing heavily. Bell avoids the head kick by St Peter.
St Peter slips a straight right by Bell. Bell jabbing away but nothing is landing. St Peter ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
That's one minute gone in the round. Horrible takedown by St Peter or perhaps it was just good defense by Bell which made him look bad. The fighters circling - Bell throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Bell slaps away a takedown attempt from St Peter, before circling back to the center of the mat. Greg St Peter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Bell lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
St Peter slips a jab from Bell. Bell tries to clinch up but St Peter circles away and keeps his distance. Bell wants to clinch but St Peter slips to the side and St Peter counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Bell's guard now. St Peter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bell swivels though and keeps the full guard. Bell looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Bell throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
St Peter wants to get up but he can't break Bell's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Bell is looking to sinch up a triangle. St Peter throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Bell's body to avoid the submission. Bell has instead reached around St Peter's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Bell arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
