Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Randy Lahey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cesc Fabregas! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Leandro Rodrigues and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lahey instigates a clinch. Lahey pulls guard effortlessly. Lahey keeping full guard, as Fabregas tries to pass. Lahey trying to strike off his back.
Fabregas works a leg free and moves into half guard. Fabregas wants to pass to mount but Lahey is defending the position. Fabregas prevents Lahey from improving his position. Lahey won't allow Fabregas to pass to mount. Lahey trying to control here.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Lahey scores with a takedown into Fabregas's guard. Fabregas looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lahey trying to control the position from guard on top but Fabregas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lahey has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Lahey with a flurry of punches that miss. Fabregas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lahey doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lahey manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Fabregas looks gassed! Lahey slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Lahey wants to control from the top but Fabregas keeps moving. Lahey throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Fabregas works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Fabregas has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lahey can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Lahey trying to control but Fabregas is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lahey stays in close to Fabregas's body and controls the position. Fabregas has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Lahey should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Fabregas has tightened it up now! Lahey should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
