And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Georges St Pierre!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Matheus Silva and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McRedd forces St Pierre back against the cage and clinches.

McRedd manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
St Pierre thows a big elbow that misses.
McRedd controlling St Pierre's posture.

St Pierre in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
St Pierre wants to stand but McRedd has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

McRedd wants to get back to full guard.

St Pierre is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, McRedd has managed to free his arm - good work.
McRedd is controlling St Pierre's trapped leg to prevent St Pierre from advancing to side control.

McRedd is pressing down on St Pierre's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
McRedd avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
McRedd is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

McRedd stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows St Pierre to get to his feet.

McRedd throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. St Pierre was covering up waiting for the punch and McRedd finishes the takedown easily into guard.

St Pierre has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

St Pierre is working an open guard so McRedd takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

McRedd controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
St Pierre is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

St Pierre has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McRedd can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

McRedd keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
St Pierre has hold of McRedd's hands but McRedd slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

St Pierre punching from the bottom.
McRedd content to control rather than advance.
McRedd's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

McRedd decides to stand up.
Georges St Pierre seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

McRedd is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in St Pierre's half guard.

McRedd working over St Pierre with some ground and pound. St Pierre looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. McRedd lands a nice short elbow.
McRedd looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
St Pierre is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute McRedd jumps into side control!

St Pierre is trying to escape the position but McRedd is controlling the position.

McRedd decides to take the fight back to the feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McRedd lands a slapping body shot.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

McRedd feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! McRedd's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



McRedd drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
St Pierre should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

McRedd has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for St Pierre!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McRedd takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

St Pierre swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
McRedd lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

McRedd working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. St Pierre looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by McRedd! Submission of the night perhaps?
