Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Miguel Cotto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, James Dean!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Daniel Bishop and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cotto is trying hard to land a takedown here. Dean sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign!
Dean tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Dean fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cotto sprawls well initially but Dean persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Cotto holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Dean keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Cotto pushes Dean off looking to stand but Dean dives back in and keeps control.
Cotto blocking the ground and pound attempt from Dean.
Dean prevents Cotto from improving his position.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Dean has eaten all the pies!
Dean seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Dean looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dean trying to advance position but Cotto counters by regaining guard.
Cotto is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Cotto will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Dean doesn't manage to clinch there - Cotto circles away.
Dean with a poor takedown

and Cotto counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Dean's guard now.
Dean wants to sweep but no luck.
Dean is looking to stand up but Cotto isn't so interested in that idea.
Dean has control of Cotto's left arm, preventing Cotto from doing any damage.

Cotto decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Dean, up you get!
Dean scores with a jab to the head.
Dean throws a head kick but Cotto moves out of range.
Cotto swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Dean.

Miguel Cotto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Dean.

Dean looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dean looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Cotto puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Dean is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Cotto is keen to just control but Dean is a slippery customer.
Cotto controlling the pace.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Cotto working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cotto is taking a breather. Dean says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Dean is trying to stand.
Dean really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cotto. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Cotto wants to control but Dean is keeping him busy.

Cotto decides to return to a standing position.
Cotto blocks a head kick by Dean.

Cotto gets the takedown into side control.
Cotto trying to control the position but Dean is working away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cotto throws a right and a left that both miss.
Dean swings for the body but Cotto moves out of range.
Cotto tries for a takedown but Dean circles away easily

and Dean counters with a takedown into side control.
The strikes coming from Dean are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Dean working the ground and pound but Cotto is defending the strikes.
Cotto is trying to work for a sweep but Dean has mounted him!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
A nice elbow there by Dean.
Cotto tries to lock up and control but Dean gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Dean tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cotto squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Dean trying to control but Cotto is having none of it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Dean working for a guillotine from mount but Cotto is in no mood to give up.
Dean can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cotto is looking to escape.
Cotto is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Cotto slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Dean is trying to control. Cotto wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Dean is looking to advance position but Cotto won't allow it.

Dean with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Cotto manages to get to full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Dean trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Cotto manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Cotto not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dean can do anything to dispel that myth.
Dean wants to sweep but no luck.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dean wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Dean showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


A low kick from Dean misses
and Cotto counters with a nice leg kick.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Cotto is pressed up against the cage. Dean has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Cotto down to the mat. Cotto avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

and Dean counters with a head kick. That will keep Cotto thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Dean stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Dean wants it to stay on the feet.

and Dean decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Cotto's guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Miguel Cotto. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Cotto is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Dean defends well.

Dean is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Cotto lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Dean!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Cotto is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Dean has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Dean!

Cotto bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dean's guard.

Dean trying to keep a closed guard but Cotto is proving a slippery customer.

I would just about give that final round to James Dean.
I think Dean has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
