Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Matt Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frederik Kraus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hughes comes to the cage accompanied by a Country Boy can Survive. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Frederik Kraus was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Matt Hughes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Frederik Kraus! The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Patrick Alders and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hughes shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kraus napping and manages to drive through into side control! Kraus is trying to get back to half guard. Hughes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kraus keeps working. Hughes working the head and body with strikes. Hughes is putting a hurting on Kraus here, landing some big shots from side control. Kraus takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Hughes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Hughes lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hughes lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Kraus down.
Kraus tries to escape but Hughes is in control. Kraus tries to bench press Hughes off him but Hughes keeps the position. Hughes tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Hughes scoring with punches from side control. Kraus is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Hughes asserts his dominance and retains side control. Kraus striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hughes working the body and head with strikes. Kraus tries to bench press Hughes off him but Hughes keeps the position. Hughes landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kraus sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Kraus slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Hughes won't allow Kraus to get back to his feet. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kraus can do anything to dispel that myth. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kraus is on top in guard.
Kraus looking to sit in guard and control but Hughes gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Kraus is pulling down on Hughes's head to control his posture.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kraus has momentary wrist control but Hughes slips an elbow through the middle. Hughes trying to control the position from guard on top but Kraus is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kraus wants to stand up but Hughes is controlling him. Hughes distracts Kraus with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Hughes scoring with some ground and pound. Hughes is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Hughes with a nice head shot there. Hughes working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Kraus bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hughes's guard. Kraus wants to stand but Hughes has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Hughes has his feet on Kraus's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kraus misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kraus swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Kraus lands with a right hand. Kraus tries to bum rush Hughes with a series of wild strikes but Hughes uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Hughes tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kraus sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hughes somewhat. Frederik Kraus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kraus throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Kraus clobbers Hughes with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Excellent takedown into side control there by Hughes. Hughes is breathing heavily. Kraus wants to get back to his feet. Kraus manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hughes is refusing to be controlled, as Kraus sits in half guard. Hughes pushes Kraus off and gets back to his feet. Kraus fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hughes shoots in and bounces Kraus off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Hughes stops Kraus from standing up. Hughes with a nice head shot there. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hughes throwing strikes but missing. Kraus manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hughes manages to get himself to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Matt Hughes dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Kraus displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hughes. Kraus ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Kraus smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Horrible takedown by Hughes or perhaps it was just good defense by Kraus which made him look bad. Hughes on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Kraus throws a series of punches but Hughes moves out of range. This fight brought to you by 5M nutrition - it's mmmmm tasty. Nice jab by Kraus. Kraus swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Hughes takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Hughes has closed the distance and engaged Kraus in a clinch.
Kraus's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kraus closes the distance and lands a one-two. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hughes is defended easily by Kraus. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Hughes. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kraus lands a nice looking body shot.
Kraus slaps away a takedown attempt from Hughes, before circling back to the center of the mat. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Kraus!
Kraus fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Kraus lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Hughes backs up against the cage.
Kraus lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Hughes is rocked! Kraus lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Hughes is looking to close the distance but Kraus sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Hughes crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Hughes is OK because that was naaaaaasty!
