Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Diego Valdez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy Carwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Randy Carwin has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Diego Valdez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Randy Carwin! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Valdez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Carwin sprawls well. Carwin wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Valdez gets slowly back to his feet. Carwin slaps away a takedown attempt from Valdez, before circling back to the center of the mat. Carwin has Valdez up against the cage in a clinch.
Carwin prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Diego Valdez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Carwin has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Valdez regains guard immediately. Valdez working a defensive guard here.
Carwin thows a big elbow that misses. Carwin stands and steps away. Valdez gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Valdez gets caught flat footed, as Carwin shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Carwin trying to control the position from guard on top but Valdez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Carwin is working Valdez over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carwin drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Valdez dives on top into guard. Valdez prevents Carwin from getting back to his feet. Carwin has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Valdez off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Nice sprawl there from Valdez as Carwin shoots in. Carwin looks gassed! Valdez swings for the body but Carwin moves out of range.
Valdez misses with a takedown attempt and Carwin counters by clinching up. Valdez is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Valdez jumps guard.
Carwin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Valdez avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Valdez trying to keep a closed guard but Carwin is proving a slippery customer.
Valdez is looking for a triangle but Carwin pushes his legs off easily.
Carwin wants to control from the top but Valdez keeps moving. Carwin is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Carwin wants to stand and escape but instead Valdez has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Valdez throwing strikes but missing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Valdez gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Carwin counters by moving into the clinch. Valdez with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Valdez tries for a takedown. No joy.

Valdez unloads a knee to the mid-section. Carwin lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. A frustrated look appears on Valdez's face as he tries to break the clinch. Carwin has Valdez pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Valdez manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Carwin tries to pull guard but Valdez won't allow it.
Valdez is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Carwin goes for a takedown in the clinch but Valdez prevents it.
Valdez is trying to break the clinch but Carwin has him pressed against the cage. Valdez is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Carwin pulls him back up using the underhooks. Carwin is trying to drag Valdez to the mat but Valdez just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

A battle for position here, against the cage. Valdez pulls guard. Carwin slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Carwin missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Carwin wants to get up but he can't break Valdez's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Valdez looking for a sweep. Not yet Valdez, not yet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Randy Carwin dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Valdez shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Carwin defends it nicely. Carwin closes the distance and clinches up with Valdez, looking for a takedown. Carwin pushes Valdez against the cage but Valdez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Carwin on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Valdez. Valdez obviously looking to wear him down.
Carwin closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Carwin tries to score a body lock takedown but Valdez shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Valdez has Carwin pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Carwin manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Valdez has had enough of the clinch but Carwin keeps him there for the moment. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Valdez can't break the clinch.
Valdez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Carwin walks away with a smile on his face. Carwin is looking to advance position but Valdez has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Carwin can do anything to dispel that myth. Valdez fails to take his opponent's back. Valdez takes Carwin's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Carwin is in trouble.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Carwin looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands. Valdez working for a choke but Carwin is defending well. Carwin trying to control but not successfully.

Carwin manages to stand up with Valdez still on his back. Eventually Valdez drops to his feet and we're back in the standing position. Valdez darts in trying to clinch and Carwin moves into the clinch. Valdez has had enough of the clinch but Carwin keeps him there for the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Valdez has had enough of the clinch but Carwin keeps him there for the moment. Carwin tries to pull guard but Valdez won't allow it.

Horrible takedown by Valdez or perhaps it was just good defense by Carwin which made him look bad. Nice takedown defense from Carwin. No joy for Valdez on that attempt. Randy Carwin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Carwin. Diego Valdez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Valdez shoots and misses and Carwin counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Valdez manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Carwin is desperately trying to improve his position but Valdez has a good base and remains in mount. Valdez trying to control but he's not successful this time. Valdez with a couple of short strikes. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Valdez tries to control but Carwin wriggling away. Carwin tries to hold on but Valdez pushes him away. Carwin might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Valdez kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Valdez is working for a guillotine from mount but Carwin frees his head quite easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Carwin tries to get back to half guard but can't. Valdez tries to control but Carwin wriggling away. Carwin tries to hold on but Valdez pushes him away. Valdez can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Carwin is looking to escape. Carwin is looking to improve his position but Valdez isn't that keen on the idea.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carwin is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Carwin wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. Carwin is trapped and Valdez is scoring with shots to the head and body. Valdez scores with strikes from the back.
Randy Carwin has got the better of the ground game so far. Carwin is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Randy Carwin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. You can see the frustration on Carwin's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Carwin prevents Valdez from getting a body triangle. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carwin is trying to stand back up. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Carwin tries to escape the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Randy Carwin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Carwin winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
