The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Richard Clark and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Balboa takes one to the side of the head.
Bard looks to throw the jab but Balboa is out of range.
Balboa takes a head kick and keeps coming.
It looks like Frankie Balboa has been cut.
Balboa thows a left - swing and a miss!
Bard throws a hook but Balboa blocks it.

Bard feints and then cracks Balboa's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Balboa down.

and Bard counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Balboa has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Bard finds it's way round the side to connect with Balboa's head.
Bard throws a body punch but Balboa moves out of range.

Fet Bard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bard connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Balboa is rocked!
Bard throws a wild body kick that Balboa sees coming a mile off.
Balboa is still on wobbly legs! Can Bard finish him?
Bard throws a solid leg kick but Balboa takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Bard.
Balboa seems to have recovered his senses.
Balboa swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Balboa takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

and Bard counters with a flying knee. Nice.
That has opened up Frankie Balboa's cut even more.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bard throws the kick towards the body but Balboa avoids it.
Fet Bard is winning the standup battle so far.
Balboa misses with a body kick.
Bard takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Balboa scores with the left hand. Bard knows he should have avoided that one.

Balboa throws a solid leg kick but Bard takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Balboa.

The cut above Frankie Balboa's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
