Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lipton Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Steve Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Lipton Jackson!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, William Gold and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Jackson is not content to let Smith control the position.
Jackson sneaks back into half guard.
Smith missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Jackson is trying to control but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith is keen to just control but Jackson is a slippery customer.
Jackson is looking to improve his position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Jackson clinches up with Smith and pushes him back against the cage.
Smith tries for a takedown but Jackson manages to get underhooks.
Smith is breathing heavily.

Jackson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Smith just stands there and leans against the cage.

Smith drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Jackson gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Smith is trying to stall.
Jackson tries to pull guard but Smith won't allow it.
Jackson has Smith pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Smith manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Jackson is trying to slow the pace down but that's a couple of times in a row that he's tried to get underhooks and Smith has denied him.

Jackson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jackson bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Smith can't keep his opponent in guard - Jackson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Smith won't allow Jackson to pass to mount.
Well, if Jackson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Jackson is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Smith has managed to free his arm - good work.

Jackson postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Smith to stand up.
Jackson shoots in but no luck this time.
Smith swats away the attempt to clinch by Jackson.
Jackson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Smith counters with a shoot takedown. Jackson fights it but they end up in guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Jackson is trying to get back to full guard.
Smith is just content to waste time from the top position. Jackson takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

and Smith counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Smith might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Jackson pulls Smith in close to prevent any damage.
Smith postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Jackson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Smith not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Smith accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Smith seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Smith seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jackson for as long as he can get away with.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Smith's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Jackson's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Steve Smith will probably get the nod.
That's time! Smith's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Smith darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Smith is keen to just control but Jackson is a slippery customer.

Smith wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jackson keeps working.
Smith tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Jackson is trying to get back to half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Smith slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Smith controls Jackson momentarily but Jackson frees himself.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Jackson tries to clinch but Smith is having none of it.
Jackson fails with the takedown

and Smith counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jackson won't be happy with that.
Smith moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Steve Smith overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Jackson manages to get back to half guard.
Jackson looks like he's trying to stand up.
Smith looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Steve Smith showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Smith, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
