Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Travis Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Higgedy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Higgedy has chosen Fort Minor - In Stereo as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Travis Hunter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pete Higgedy!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Fedor Mirinova and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Higgedy misses with a series of wild punches.
Hunter tries to work over Higgedy's front leg with a kick but Higgedy checks it.
Higgedy attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Higgedy throws a hook but Hunter avoids it easily.
Higgedy throws a head kick that Hunter semi-blocks.
Hunter fails with the takedown.
A combination from Higgedy does no damage.
Higgedy throws a body punch but Hunter moves out of range.
Higgedy connects with a looping right hand.

Hunter scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Hunter is thwarting Higgedy's attempts to control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Higgedy throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Higgedy lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hunter circles away quickly and effectively.
Higgedy moves out of range of the strikes.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hunter throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Higgedy rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hunter moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Hunter tries to clinch there but Higgedy circles away.

Hunter shoots for a double leg takedown but Higgedy sprawls well. He's pushed Hunter's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Higgedy throws out a leg kick but Hunter moves out of range and Higgedy only half commits.
Hunter doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Higgedy doesn't manage to clinch there - Hunter circles away.

Hunter tries for a takedown but Higgedy sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Travis Hunter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hunter misses with a body shot.
Hunter does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Higgedy misses with a jab, cross combination.
Hunter looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Hunter drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Higgedy is looking for a sweep.
Higgedy struggling a bit here.

Hunter tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hunter has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Higgedy parries the strikes from Hunter easily there. Hunter is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Higgedy to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

and Hunter counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Higgedy thinking.
Hunter scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!


It looks like Pete Higgedy has been cut.
Hunter walks into a straight right hand from Higgedy.
Higgedy closes the distance looking to clinch
and Hunter counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Higgedy thinking.

Higgedy tries to clinch up.

Higgedy throws a right and a left that Hunter avoids nicely.
Higgedy lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Hunter at a distance.

Hunter's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hunter avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hunter leaves Higgedy with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Higgedy buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Hunter swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Higgedy scores with a kick to the midsection.
Higgedy misses with a hook. Hunter ducked under it nicely.
Hunter rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Higgedy moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Hunter lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Travis Hunter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Hunter closes the distance and clinches.
Higgedy has had enough of the clinch but Hunter keeps him there for the moment.

Higgedy tries to land knees in the clinch but Hunter avoids the damage to the body.

Hunter has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Higgedy regains guard immediately.

Hunter frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Higgedy has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
Hunter is trying to stick to Higgedy's back but Higgedy is turning into Hunter. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Hunter's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Higgedy.

Hunter escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Higgedy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Higgedy is working Hunter over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Hunter manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Higgedy is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Hunter jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Higgedy is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Higgedy and Hunter has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Higgedy can't do much from the bottom here.
Higgedy is trying to buck Hunter off.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Hunter is looking to wear down Higgedy with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

The crowd cheers as Higgedy lands an impressive looking overhand right. Hunter doesn't seem phased though.

The fighters circle momentarily. Higgedy darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Hunter is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Higgedy is just riding it out for now. Hunter eventually gives up the hold.
