Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and General Taft (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). General Taft has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Aaron Anderson's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Aaron Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, General Taft!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Alyssa Summers and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Taft backs up against the cage.
Taft misses with a takedown attempt - Anderson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Anderson feints and as Taft raises his hands in defense, Anderson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Anderson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Anderson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Taft pulls Anderson in close to prevent any damage.
Taft utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Anderson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Anderson passes into half guard.

Taft kicks off Anderson and gets to his feet.
Anderson misses with a wild combination.
Anderson with a lazy takedown attempt

and Taft counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Anderson is trying to drag Taft to the mat but Taft just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Taft manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Anderson trying to control but Taft is working from the bottom.
Anderson prevents Taft from getting back to his feet.
Taft keeping moving, preventing Anderson from controlling successfully.

Taft is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Anderson is aware though and is defending well.
Taft tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Taft trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Anderson wants to stand but Taft has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Anderson is breathing heavily.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Anderson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Taft tries to avoid it but Anderson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Taft to the ground. Taft escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aaron Anderson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Taft misses with a low kick.
Taft tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Taft closes the distance and clinches.
Anderson is trying to break the clinch but Taft is controlling him.
Anderson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Taft smiles and moves away.

Anderson closes the distance and clinches.
Anderson throws a knee to the head but misses.
Taft wants a takedown but no success here.

Taft's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Taft shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Taft stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Anderson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Taft trying to control but Anderson is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Taft might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Anderson kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Taft throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Taft missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Taft trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Anderson scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Anderson instigates a clinch.

Taft pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Anderson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Anderson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Taft moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Anderson feints and as Taft raises his hands in defense, Anderson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Taft escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Anderson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Taft is trying to control the position but Anderson postures up.

Anderson drops back looking for a leg! Taft is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Taft manages to kick Anderson off! Anderson jumps back into Taft's guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aaron Anderson dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Taft closes the distance and pushes Anderson back into the cage.
Taft looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Anderson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Taft gets the takedown into side control.
Anderson sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Taft looks to land a strike but Anderson avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Taft looking to pass the guard.

Anderson throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Anderson is working an open guard so Taft takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Taft tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Anderson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Taft scores with a leg kick.
Taft tries to score a power double leg takedown but Anderson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Taft somewhat.
Taft slaps away a takedown attempt from Anderson, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Taft fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Anderson throws a combination. Taft tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Taft moves into the clinch successfully.
Taft is looking to break free of the clinch but Anderson has double underhooks.

Anderson manages to break the clinch.

Taft rushes Anderson and presses him up against the cage.

Taft is trying to trip Anderson. He has hold of a leg but Anderson is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Taft persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Taft is looking to advance position but Anderson has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Anderson working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Anderson trying to control but Taft is having none of it.
Anderson avoids the attempt from Taft to control.
Anderson sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Taft really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Taft is squirming around, avoiding Anderson's attempts to control the action.

Anderson goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Taft is on top in guard.

Anderson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Taft landing some decent shots from guard.
Taft wants to control from the top but Anderson keeps moving.

Aaron Anderson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Anderson fails to land the takedown.

Anderson gets caught flat footed, as Taft shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Taft content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Anderson has locked up a guillotine! Anderson's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Taft is holding on here and Anderson must be using up a lot of energy. Taft has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Anderson gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
