Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jury Boykow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mack Charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mack Charles is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jury Boykow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mack Charles!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Fedor Mirinova and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Charles clinches.
Charles drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Boykow gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Charles is trying to trip Boykow. He has hold of a leg but Boykow is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Charles persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Boykow could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Charles stands up over Boykow, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Charles must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Boykow wants to stand and escape but Charles is having none of it.

Boykow scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Charles gets the takedown into side control.
Charles working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Boykow is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Charles is controlling him well.

Boykow throws Charles to one side and escapes!
Boykow tries to close the distance and clinch but Charles swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Boykow wants to clinch.
Charles shoots in for a takedown but Boykow shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Charles shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Boykow's guard.

Charles is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Boykow wants to get back to his feet but Charles is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Charles working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Charles stands up over Boykow, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Charles lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Charles is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Boykow manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Charles instigates a clinch.
Boykow prevents a takedown attempt there.
Jury Boykow has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mack Charles.

Boykow escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Charles closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Charles lands in his opponent's guard.
Charles makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Boykow wants to stand but Charles is controlling the position.
Charles is in close to Boykow's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Charles really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Boykow. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Boykow takes the fight into the clinch.
Boykow wants to get back to striking at distance but Charles won't allow it.

Charles turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Charles looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Charles lands a few punches from side control.
Boykow wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boykow is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Charles tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Charles has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Boykow takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Boykow tries to escape but Charles is in control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A nice combination there by Charles.
A combination from Charles does no damage.

Charles moves into the clinch successfully.
Boykow wants to break free but Charles has control.

Charles has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Boykow regains guard immediately.

Boykow wriggles free and stands up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Boykow looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Boykow is fighting off a takedown attempt but Charles is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Boykow to the mat. Boykow regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Charles lands a couple of elbows.
Charles stops Boykow from standing up.
Charles is in close to Boykow's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Boykow is looking to stand up but Charles isn't so interested in that idea.
Charles chips away with some ground and pound.
Charles distracts Boykow with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Charles won't allow Boykow to get back to his feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Charles decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mack Charles dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Charles shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Boykow napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Boykow explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Boykow takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Charles looks up at the clock and then as Boykow takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Charles smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Boykow pushes Charles away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Charles gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Charles is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Boykow can't fight it off and eventually Charles manages to take the fight to the floor. Boykow looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Mack Charles showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Charles has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Boykow is trying to keep an underhook but Charles manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Charles looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Boykow with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Charles is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Boykow doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Charles.

Mack Charles is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Charles is working Boykow over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Charles lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Boykow has momentary wrist control but Charles slips an elbow through the middle.
Boykow wants to stand up but Charles is controlling him.
Jury Boykow has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Charles's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Charles wants to control from the top but Boykow keeps moving.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Charles feints and as Boykow raises his hands in defense, Charles changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Boykow is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Charles content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well Charles has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
