Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thiago Dos Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Scott Smyth!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Seu Braga and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut lands for Smyth. That snapped Dos Santos's head back.
Dos Santos drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Smyth, as that shot connected.
Dos Santos takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Dos Santos feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Smyth wants to sweep but no luck.

Smyth tries to close the distance and clinch but Dos Santos swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Smyth throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Smyth throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Dos Santos fails with a takedown attempt.
Smyth uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Dos Santos.
Smyth will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Smyth takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Dos Santos throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Smyth was covering up waiting for the punch and Dos Santos finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Dos Santos drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Smyth manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Dos Santos has Smyth in his guard.

Dos Santos shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Smyth sprawls well. Smyth wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dos Santos gets slowly back to his feet.
