Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Weger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Biinde Mirk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Weger! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Biinde Mirk! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Skip Squint and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mirk avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mirk. Weger circles away from the clinch attempt and Weger counters with a shoot takedown. Mirk fights it but they end up in guard. Mirk looking for a guillotine here but Weger defends easily.
Wegeris looking to pass into half guard but Mirk pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Mirk is in guard. Weger keeping moving, preventing Mirk from controlling successfully. Mirk is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Weger is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Mirk dives into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mirk trying to control the action but Weger is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Weger gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Weger is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Mirk get's back to his feet. Mirk closes the distance but Weger moves to the side and Weger counters with a takedown into side control. Mirk is trying to get back to his feet. Mirk can't do much from the bottom here. Weger prevents Mirk from escaping the position. Check out the look on Weger's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Mirk on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Weger swings around for an armbar but Mirk sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Weger's guard. Mirk trying to control but Weger is working from the bottom. Mirk would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Mirk stands up and waves to Weger to follow him. Mirk throws a head kick that misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Mirk lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Weger circles away quickly and effectively. Weger takes the fight into the clinch. Mirk tries to score a body lock takedown but Weger shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Mirk tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Weger smiles and moves away.
John Weger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Biinde Mirk. Weger closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Weger lands in his opponent's guard. Weger tries to free his leg and advance position but Mirk is retaining full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Weger dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Weger tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Mirk counters with a head kick. That will keep Weger thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Mirk shoots and misses and Weger counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Weger throws a series of punches but Mirk moves out of range. Mirk shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Mirk misses the jab. Weger darts in and clinches Mirk up against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mirk pulls guard. Weger stands up over Mirk, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Weger has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Weger postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Mirk is pulling down on Weger's head. It's preventing any offense from Weger, at least for the moment. Weger chips away with some ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Weger wants to pass the guard but Mirk is keeping the position. Weger throws a big right hand that misses. Mirk is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Weger has his hands clasped together but Mirk extends an breaks Weger's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Mirk.
