Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jeff Drabek! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Visconti! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Joseph Jones and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Visconti bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Nice takedown defense from Drabek. No joy for Visconti on that attempt. Drabek blocks a head kick by Visconti.
Visconti fails with a takedown attempt. Drabek defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Visconti. Jeff Drabek has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Visconti. Visconti shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Drabek as he jumps to the side. Visconti shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Drabek manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Drabek is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Drabek looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Visconti accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Visconti has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's one minute gone in the round. Visconti pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Drabek is keeping the position for now. Visconti looking to sit in guard and control but Drabek gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Visconti manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Drabek wants to control but Visconti is having none of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Visconti takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Drabek holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Visconti tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Drabek is trying desperately to improve position. Visconti should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Visconti looking to control but Drabek is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Drabek tries to hold on but Visconti postures up. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Visconti has eaten all the pies! Visconti is looking to work his way around to Drabek's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Visconti jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Drabek is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Drabek and Visconti has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Drabek is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Visconti sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Drabek defending well though. Visconti looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Visconti is trying to control the action in half guard but Drabek is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Drabek connecting with a few gentle strikes. Visconti wants to control but Drabek is keeping him busy. Drabek moves into full guard.
Drabek has control of Visconti's left arm, preventing Visconti from doing any damage. Visconti trying to control but Drabek is working from the bottom. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jeff Drabek dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Visconti shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Drabek drives through with a takedown into guard. Drabek seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Visconti has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Drabek is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Visconti. Drabek will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Drabek lands some shots froms side control. Drabek wants to lay and pray for a moment but Visconti keeps working. Drabek working away. Drabek wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Visconti, who protects the arm well. Drabek working the body and head with strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Visconti on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Visconti is being controlled here. Visconti is looking for a sweep. Visconti wants to control but Drabek postures up. Visconti manages to get back to half guard. Drabek seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Drabek lands with a punch from half guard. Visconti looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Visconti is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Visconti tries to get to full guard but Drabek has control of the leg. Visconti on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Visconti tries to roll over but Drabek keeps him under control. Visconti is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Drabek's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Drabek's back! Visconti is trying to stick to Drabek's back but Drabek is turning into Visconti. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Visconti's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Drabek. Drabek trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Visconti is trying to hold Drabek in close to prevent damage but Drabek has managed to pass into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Drabek stalling. Drabek scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Visconti wants to improve his position but Drabek is controlling well.

Visconti gets back to half guard. Drabek trying to pass the guard but Visconti defending well. Visconti wants to control but Drabek is keeping busy and won't allow it. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Drabek is trying to control. Visconti wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Jeff Drabek overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Drabek works his foot free and advances to mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Visconti walks into a straight right hand from Drabek. Visconti with a lazy takedown attempt and Drabek counters with a shoot takedown. Visconti fights it but they end up in guard. Visconti controlling the position. Drabek preventing the sweep. Visconti manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Visconti tries to control but Drabek wriggling away. Drabek tries to reverse the position but Visconti maintains control. Visconti takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Visconti wants to control for a moment but Drabek uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. Visconti wants to take a breather but Drabek is having none of it. Visconti is looking to pass Drabek's guard but actually Drabek recovers to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Visconti trying to control the position from guard on top but Drabek is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Visconti is looking to advance position but Drabek has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Visconti really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Drabek tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Visconti is squirming around, avoiding Drabek's attempts to control the action.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Drabek is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Visconti can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Visconti defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Drabek. Visconti is desperately trying to improve his position but Drabek has a good base and remains in mount. Drabek wants to control the pace but Visconti is squirming around nicely.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Drabek content just to control the position here. Drabek lands a nice shot to the head.
Visconti is rocked! Drabek with shots to the head and body - Visconti looks very uncomfortable down there. Drabek prevents Visconti from getting the reversal. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Drabek with the ground and pound from mount.
And that's the end of the fight! Jeff Drabek showed his dominance in that final round. Well Drabek has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
