Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mr Ripley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Vaughn Dez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ripley comes to the cage accompanied by The Talented Mr. Ripley - Tu Vuo' Fa l'Americano . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vaughn Dez on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Ripley. Ripley obviously looking to wear him down.
Ripley looks to land a combination but Vaughn Dez avoids it well.
Ripley misses with a series of wild punches.
Ripley pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ripley scores with a nice head shot.
Vaughn Dez misses with a few strikes there.

Ripley shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Vaughn Dez's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vaughn Dez is looking to stand up but Ripley isn't so interested in that idea.
Vaughn Dez pulls Ripley in close to prevent any damage.

Ripley postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Vaughn Dez is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ripley, into his guard.

Ripley wants to get back to his feet.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Vaughn Dez is looking to advance position but Ripley won't allow it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Vaughn Dez works his foot free and advances to mount.

Vaughn Dez tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Vaughn Dez might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Ripley kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Despite being in the dominant position, Eric Vaughn Dez just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Ripley is looking to take a break and control but Vaughn Dez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Ripley is trying to get an arm triangle but Vaughn Dez is defending well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Vaughn Dez wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Ripley counters with a left and a right that stings Vaughn Dez.

Ripley lands a jab to Vaughn Dez's midsection.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ripley scores with a one two! Vaughn Dez had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Ripley is working for an americana but Vaughn Dez has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Ripley was thinking about the submission.

Vaughn Dez is pulling down on Ripley's head. It's preventing any offense from Ripley, at least for the moment.

Vaughn Dez has his foot on Ripley's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ripley works his way back into a safe position though.

Ripley drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Ripley seems to have locked his on tight now - Vaughn Dez screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Ripley, as he picks up the win!
