Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenji Yakimoto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Jack Sparrow! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Ren Mimura and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yakimoto tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sparrow swivels and escapes. Yakimoto tries to clinch there but Sparrow circles away.
Yakimoto throws a nice outside leg kick. Sparrow decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Sparrow throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Yakimoto taking some punishment here, with Sparrow in his half guard. Sparrow decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Sparrow circles away from the clinch attempt.
Yakimoto misses with a takedown attempt and Sparrow counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Sparrow is working for a kimura but Yakimoto is defending it quite comfortably.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Sparrow is working for a submission of some sort.
Sparrow throwing shots but Yakimoto is blocking nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sparrow wants to work for an arm triangle but Yakimoto is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Sparrow works his foot free and advances to mount. Yakimoto is breathing heavily. Yakimoto tries to hold on but Sparrow pushes him away. Sparrow looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Yakimoto tries to hold on but Sparrow postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Yakimoto is wriggling around trying to escape.
Sparrow looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Sparrow wants to finish this one by submission but Yakimoto is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Sparrow. Sparrow looking to secure an arm triangle but Yakimoto defends it well.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Sparrow goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Yakimoto turns into him and now he's in Sparrow's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Yakimoto drops back looking for a leg! Sparrow is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sparrow manages to kick Yakimoto off! Yakimoto jumps back into Sparrow's guard. Sparrow throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Yakimoto trying to control but Sparrow is working from the bottom. Sparrow pulls Yakimoto in to control the position. Yakimoto is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Sparrow has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Yakimoto is looking to defend but Sparrow has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Yakimoto! Sparrow pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Yakimoto taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jack Sparrow!
