Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ryan McCarthy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vance Vorhees (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vorhees has chosen I Will Not Bow by Breaking Benjamin as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ryan McCarthy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Vance Vorhees!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Bruno Hogan and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vorhees will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

McCarthy fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Vorhees sprawls well initially but McCarthy persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
McCarthy frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This has been an exciting period of action!
McCarthy looking to control and managing it successfully.

McCarthy is working for a guillotine from mount but Vorhees frees his head quite easily.
McCarthy controlling the pace for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McCarthy looking to control but Vorhees is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
McCarthy lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Vorhees hang on?
McCarthy blocks Vorhees's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

Vorhees throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.

McCarthy jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Vorhees manages to avoid the submission attempt.

McCarthy is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Vorhees has escaped the position, nice work there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Vorhees is looking for a sweep.
McCarthy tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Vorhees is working to avoid the ground and pound but McCarthy connects with a decent elbow.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McCarthy grinds an elbow into Vorhees's temple.

McCarthy working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
McCarthy working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

McCarthy tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Vorhees stops McCarthy from passing to mount.
Vorhees is working to avoid the ground and pound but McCarthy connects with a decent elbow.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Vorhees tries to control the position but he's not in luck - McCarthy easily slips into full mount!
McCarthy is in the full mount, landing strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan McCarthy dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



McCarthy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Vorhees throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

McCarthy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McCarthy drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. McCarthy seems to have locked his on tight now - Vorhees screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for McCarthy, as he picks up the win!
