Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kel Varnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tyson Kahn! The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Nard Betker and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Varnson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kahn to score an easy takedown into full guard. Kahn thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Varnson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Kahn! Varnson looking to control and managing it successfully. Kahn can't escape the position.
Varnson looking to control and managing it successfully. Kahn tries to get back to half guard but can't. Varnson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kahn is desperately trying to improve his position but Varnson has a good base and remains in mount. Varnson controlling the position easily from mount. Kahn working to try and regain half guard.
Kahn is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Varnson content just to control the position here. Varnson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Kel Varnson just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Varnson circles away from the clinch attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Kahn tries to clinch but Varnson moves out of range. Varnson connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
It looks like Tyson Kahn has been cut. Kahn tries to clinch up. Kel Varnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Varnson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kahn.
Kahn shoots in but Varnson avoids the takedown attempt easily. Varnson throws a series of strikes that have Kahn backpedaling.
A jab lands there for Varnson. Kahn takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Kahn misses with a takedown attempt - Varnson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Varnson sends Kahn crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Varnson is motioning to the referee to let Kahn up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Kahn is rocked!
That has opened up Tyson Kahn's cut even more. Kahn looks gassed! Varnson lands a big uppercut and this one is all over! His foe lies motionless on the canvas - a massive one punch knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Kel Varnson!
