Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lyndon Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Georges St Pierre! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Marco Blurström and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A head kick misses from Jones. A head kick misses from Jones. St Pierre fails to land the takedown. Jones works the jab nicely. St Pierre moves out of range of the leg kick from Jones. Jones moves in looking to clinch but St Pierre pushes him off. Jones lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Jones.
It looks like Georges St Pierre has been cut. Lyndon Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. St Pierre wants to clinch up but Jones keeps it at a distance. St Pierre tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. St Pierre fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jones wants to clinch and St Pierre holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Jones wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but St Pierre has him pressed against the cage. St Pierre blocks an uppercut.

St Pierre breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Jones really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. St Pierre darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. St Pierre trying to mount his opponent but Jones defends it. Jones is looking for a sweep. St Pierre is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Jones trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but St Pierre manages to pass to mount!
St Pierre content just to control the position here. Jones on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jones tries to get out of the position. Jones has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones can't escape the position.
St Pierre landing with strikes. St Pierre not allowing Jones to control his hands. St Pierre lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK. You can see the frustration on Jones's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Jones breaks St Pierre's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Jones knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for St Pierre on the ground. Jones won't allow St Pierre to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. St Pierre trying to keep a closed guard but Jones is proving a slippery customer.
Jones postures up in St Pierre's guard and throws a big left but St Pierre blocks it. St Pierre bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jones's guard. Jones wants to sweep but no luck. St Pierre looks gassed! Jones controls St Pierre momentarily but St Pierre frees himself. Jones keeping moving, preventing St Pierre from controlling successfully. St Pierre pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jones is keeping the position for now. Jones thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Jones keeping moving, preventing St Pierre from controlling successfully. St Pierre might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jones kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. St Pierre sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. St Pierre looks to throw the jab but Jones is out of range. Jones throws a nice head kick!
St Pierre closes the distance and clinches. Jones breaks from the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Lyndon Jones will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Georges St Pierre's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Jones darts in and clinches St Pierre up against the cage. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Jones wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but St Pierre has him pressed against the cage. Jones missing with knees to the body.
Jones just leaning against St Pierre, taking a breather. St Pierre makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. St Pierre wants to break the clinch but can't.
Jones keeps the fight in the clinch, despite St Pierre's efforts to push away. St Pierre tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jones just stands there and leans against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. St Pierre pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Jones's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. St Pierre will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Jones bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. St Pierre is breathing heavily. Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. St Pierre throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Jones counters with a flying knee. Nice. Nice cross by Jones. Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jones throws a combination that misses and St Pierre decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jones's guard. Jones not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jones keeping full guard, as St Pierre tries to pass. Jones is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and St Pierre defends well. St Pierre pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jones is keeping the position for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Jones wants to get back to his feet but St Pierre is in a dominant position and won't allow it. St Pierre slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Jones is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. A big right from St Pierre misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Jones wants to clinch. Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jones tries to clinch up. St Pierre shoots for a double leg takedown but Jones sprawls well. He's pushed St Pierre's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Lyndon Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Georges St Pierre. St Pierre tries for a takedown but Jones circles away easily and Jones counters with a leg kick. Jones throws a body kick the misses and St Pierre decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jones's guard. Jones keeping moving, preventing St Pierre from controlling successfully. Jones trying to control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. St Pierre wanted to stand there but Jones had control of the position. Jones is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Jones working a defensive guard but St Pierre passes into half guard.

Georges St Pierre showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Georges St Pierre's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Jones fails with an attempt to clinch.
St Pierre throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jones's waist but Jones gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing St Pierre off to one side. A head kick by St Pierre misses and Jones counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Jones lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Jones throws a quick inside leg kick. St Pierre showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Jones.
Jones throws a right and a left that St Pierre avoids nicely. Jones tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Jones swats away the attempt to clinch by St Pierre. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Jones goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Jones tries to clinch there but St Pierre circles away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones throws a head kick that misses and St Pierre counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Georges St Pierre has got the better of the ground game so far. Jones wants to control but St Pierre is keeping busy.
It looks like St Pierre is going to stand back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because St Pierre is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Jones strikes from the bottom but St Pierre uses the opportunity to move to side control.
Jones is trying to control St Pierre's posture but St Pierre avoids it.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Jones tries to clinch up. St Pierre fails with the takedown and Jones holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Jones escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones scores to the head and body with a nice combination! St Pierre shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Jones napping and manages to drive through into side control! Jones is looking for a sweep. Jones gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! St Pierre controlling his opponent. St Pierre unloading with bombs! St Pierre wants to control the pace but Jones is squirming around nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones is working to get back to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight! Georges St Pierre comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think St Pierre has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
