Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ben Hunter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marcelo Mendes!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yukihiro Shimada and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunter defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mendes.
Mendes walks into a jab.
Mendes throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hunter.
The fighters circle momentarily. Hunter darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Mendes looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Mendes shoots for a double leg takedown but Hunter sprawls well. He's pushed Mendes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Hunter displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mendes.
Ben Hunter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcelo Mendes.
Mendes tries to close the distance and clinch but Hunter swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Mendes shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hunter comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Hunter feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Mendes sprawling to the canvas! Mendes rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Hunter finish him?!


It looks like Marcelo Mendes has been cut.
Mendes misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Mendes misses with a straight right.
Mendes tries to close the distance and clinch but Hunter swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Hunter drops Mendes with a beautiful combination! Mendes stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Hunter is looking for the KO!


Mendes is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mendes throws a head kick that misses.
Hunter scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Mendes looks gassed!

Hunter cracks Mendes with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Mendes looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Hunter finish him?
Mendes is still on wobbly legs! Can Hunter finish him?

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hunter lands a nice looking body shot.
Mendes seems to have recovered his senses.
Hunter ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Hunter paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.


That has opened up Marcelo Mendes's cut even more.
Ben Hunter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Mendes takes one to the chin there.
Mendes misses with a low kick.

Hunter drops Mendes with a beautiful combination! Mendes stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Hunter is looking for the KO!
A leg kick checked by Mendes.
Mendes should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hunter swats away the attempt to clinch by Mendes.
Mendes is looking to clinch.
Hunter throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mendes stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Decent striking displayed by Hunter there.


The cut above Marcelo Mendes's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Mendes fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Mendes tries to close the distance and clinch but Hunter swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hunter punishes Mendes's body with a nice straight punch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hunter cracks Mendes with a right hand to the side of the head.
Marcelo Mendes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hunter avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hunter lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Hunter lands a big right hand that sends Mendes crashing to the mat! Hunter stays standing though and waves Mendes back to his feet!


Marcelo Mendes's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Hunter comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Hunter lands a jab to the nose.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Marcelo Mendes's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Ben Hunter!
