The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pekkanen rushes Bulldog and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Pekkanen has clasped his hands together around Bulldog's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Bulldog wants to control but Pekkanen postures up.
Bulldog is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Pekkanen is staying active.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Bulldog wants to clinch but Pekkanen slips to the side
letting Pekkanen counter with a right hand.

It looks like Jeff Bulldog has been cut.
Pekkanen shoots in for a double leg but Bulldog sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Pekkanen darts in and clinches Bulldog up against the cage.

Pekkanen jumps guard and drags Bulldog to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Bulldog has gone for a leg lock! Pekkanen slips out almost immediately though and dives into Bulldog's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bulldog has an active guard here but Pekkanen has managed to pass into half guard.

Pekkanen can't control as he wanted to and Bulldog manages to get the fight back to his half guard.
Pekkanen wants to pass the guard but Bulldog is defending well.
Bulldog should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Pekkanen doesn't manage to clinch there - Bulldog circles away.

Bulldog is looking to improve his position.
Bulldog makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Bulldog.
Pekkanen has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Bulldog is proving hard to escape from.

Bulldog pushes a forearm under Pekkanen's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Pekkanen is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
