PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Samko Kahric (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kahric has chosen BHF as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Samko Kahric enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Carter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Samko Kahric!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Kahric darts in and clinches Carter up against the cage.

Kahric has clasped his hands together around Carter's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Carter is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Carter trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Kahric shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Carter as he jumps to the side.
Carter throws a looping overhand right but Kahric ducks down to avoid it.
Kahric throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Kahric misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Carter throws out a loose jab but Kahric uses good head movement to avoid it.
Matt Carter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kahric wants to clinch up but Carter keeps it at a distance.
Carter throws a hook but Kahric avoids it easily.

Carter scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Carter is breathing heavily.
Carter seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Carter wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Kahric uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
Kahric wants to sweep but no luck.
Carter is looking to stand up but Kahric won't let him.

Kahric tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kahric thows a body kick. Carter tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Carter misses the jab.
Carter is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Kahric.
Carter lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Kahric takes a swing at Carter's ribcage but misses.
Carter lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Kahric is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Kahric tests Carter's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Kahric takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kahric doesn't manage to clinch there - Carter circles away.
Kahric walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Kahric moves away from the strike by Carter.
Kahric looks for a takedown but Carter sprawls well.
Decent striking displayed by Carter there.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Carter shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kahric defends it nicely.

and Carter counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Horrible takedown by Carter or perhaps it was just good defense by Kahric which made him look bad.
Carter throws a big shot that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Matt Carter will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Kahric tries to score a power double leg takedown but Carter sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kahric somewhat.
Carter lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Kahric throws a body kick that misses.
Carter throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
The fighters circling - Carter throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Carter works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Carter shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Carter stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Kahric to get to his feet.

Kahric shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
A swing and a miss from Carter.
Carter throws a hook to the side of Kahric's head but Kahric sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Carter throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Carter lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kahric circles away quickly and effectively.
Carter dives in and grabs Kahric's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kahric pushes down on Carter's head and hops out.
No luck for Kahric with that takedown attempt.
Carter connects with a crisp jab.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Carter avoids the head kick by Kahric.

Kahric thumps Carter with a low kick.
Carter connects with a nice looking jab.
Kahric moves out of range as Carter strikes.

Carter chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Kahric can pounce on him.
Carter tests Kahric's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Kahric bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Kahric shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Carter sprawls well. Carter wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kahric gets slowly back to his feet.
Matt Carter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Samko Kahric.
Carter bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Carter throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Carter takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Carter looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Carter swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Matt Carter dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Samko Kahric is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Kahric has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
Carter throws out a loose jab but Kahric uses good head movement to avoid it.
Carter closes the distance and clinches up with Kahric, looking for a takedown. Carter pushes Kahric against the cage but Kahric circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Nice straight punches there by Kahric. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Kahric.

Kahric changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Carter fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Carter throws a nice looking combination but Kahric bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Carter throws a series of punches but Kahric moves out of range.

Carter misses with a hook. Kahric ducked under it nicely.

and Kahric counters with a nice low kick that buckles Carter's knee momentarily.

Carter looks to land a left hand but Kahric moved out of range nicely.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Carter crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Kahric - the referee stops the clock and Carter gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Kahric. Carter manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Carter slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Kahric motions for Carter to come forward. Kahric throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

and Kahric holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Carter has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kahric is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Kahric drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Carter gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Carter can't get the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Carter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kahric lands a knee to the head.

Kahric works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Carter is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kahric is controlling him.
Matt Carter overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Carter looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Kahric thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Carter wants to stand up but Kahric is controlling him.
Carter wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Kahric manages to pass to side control.

Carter on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Carter tries to get out of the position.
Matt Carter is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kahric shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Kahric lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Carter cracks Kahric with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
The crowd cheers as Carter lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kahric doesn't seem phased though.
Carter lands a glancing blow to the side of Kahric's head.

Carter drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Carter wants to stand but Kahric has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Carter stands and steps away. Kahric gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Kahric takes one to the chin there.
Kahric has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Kahric there as he acknowledges the shot.
Kahric ducks right into an uppercut from Carter.

Carter bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Carter stands up and beckons Kahric to his feet.
Kahric ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Kahric is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Samko Kahric has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Left hook, right uppercut from Carter.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Matt Carter.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Carter, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
