Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roy Nelson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Luke Robinson! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Joseph Jones and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Robinson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Nelson backs up against the ropes.
Nelson uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Robinson has time to react. Robinson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nelson moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Nelson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Nelson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Nelson decides to stand up, so the ref orders Robinson to his feet. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Nelson!
That's one minute gone in the round. Robinson tries to bum rush Nelson with a series of wild strikes but Nelson uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Nelson looks to land a left hand but Robinson moved out of range nicely. Nelson misses with a head kick.

Luke Robinson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Robinson falls off balance throwing a combination
and Nelson counters with a single leg into guard. Robinson didn't expect that. Nelson wants to stand but Robinson has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Robinson wants to stand up but Nelson is controlling him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nelson looking to pass the guard. Nelson has gone for a leg lock! Robinson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Nelson's guard. Nelson is looking for a triangle here but Robinson uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Robinson tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Nelson pushes Robinson away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Robinson gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Robinson tries to stand but Nelson is controlling his head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nelson sneaks back into half guard. Nelson is trying to stand up here but Robinson is controlling him well. Nelson regains full guard. Nicely done. Robinson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Nelson is proving hard to escape from. Nelson is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Robinson frees his head nicely. Oh but Nelson has switched to an armbar! Robinson is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
