Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bob Hope!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Josh Thorne!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Hugh Johnson and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hope closes the distance and clinches.
Thorne can't get the takedown.
Hope is looking to break free of the clinch but Thorne has double underhooks.
Hope wants a takedown but no success here.
Thorne tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Thorne breaks from the clinch.
Thorne shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hope as he avoids it easily.
Bob Hope has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Josh Thorne.
Thorne tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hope sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Thorne somewhat.
Thorne defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hope.
Hope shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Thorne defends it nicely.
Thorne avoids the head kick by Hope.
Hope stuffs the takedown attempt from Thorne. Thorne gets slowly back to his feet.
Thorne misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hope is looking to clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hope is defended easily by Thorne.
Thorne fails to land the takedown.
Thorne scores with a kick to the midsection.
Hope is breathing heavily.
Hope tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Thorne paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hope misses with an uppercut. Thorne saw that one coming.

Thorne gets a clinch.
Thorne landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Thorne wants a takedown.

Thorne manages to break the clinch.

Hope gets caught flat footed, as Thorne shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Thorne wants to pass the guard but Hope is keeping the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Thorne gets to his feet - Hope follows without any prompting.
Hope keeps the fight on the outside.
Hope misses with a wild combination.
Hope avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hope shoots for a takedown but Thorne saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Thorne shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hope is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Thorne tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hope knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Hope looking for submissions off his back.
Hope regains full guard. Nicely done.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Thorne thows a big elbow that misses.
Thorne throws a strike but Hope rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Hope works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Hope is looking for a kimura but Thorne is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hope to get the leverage.
Hope passes to full mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Josh Thorne dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Hope doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Thorne counters with a nice body kick.
Hope swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Thorne scores with a one two! Hope had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Thorne tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hope swivels and escapes.
Thorne lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Hope backs up against the cage.

Thorne is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Hope's half guard.
Thorne seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Thorne seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Hope is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Thorne is tapping! Great win for Hope!
