Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between DJ Wegesin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Otso Jokinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Wegesin might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The four tops - It's the same old song. Otso Jokinen has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with DJ Wegesin's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Otso Jokinen!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Valeri Chadov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jokinen thows a left - swing and a miss!
Jokinen on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Wegesin takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Wegesin fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Wegesin displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Jokinen throws out the jab.
Jokinen lands the left hand.
A looping hook to the body misses from Wegesin. Jokinen does a little dance to reset his feet.
Jokinen misses with a straight right.
Wegesin with a jab.
Jokinen tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Wegesin was well out of range. Poor timing from Jokinen.
Jokinen looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Jokinen throws a looping overhand right but Wegesin ducks down to avoid it.
Wegesin throws a head kick that half lands.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wegesin scores with a push kick.
Wegesin keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Wegesin lands with a slapping head kick.
Wegesin bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Jokinen looks to throw the jab but Wegesin is out of range.

Wegesin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jokinen sprawls well initially but Wegesin persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Wegesin not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wegesin not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Wegesin sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Jokinen defending well though.
Wegesin thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jokinen's head.
Jokinen keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Wegesin throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Wegesin is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Wegesin not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Jokinen fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Wegesin walks into a left hand.
Wegesin fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Jokinen moves away from the strike by Wegesin.
Jokinen scores with a nice head shot.
Jokinen swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Wegesin misses with a jab to the body

and Jokinen counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jokinen.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jokinen tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Jokinen lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Still in the clinch, Jokinen scores with a nice short uppercut.
Wegesin tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Jokinen avoids it.
Wegesin tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Jokinen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wegesin moves out of range of the strikes.
Wegesin thows a left - swing and a miss!
Jokinen lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.


Wegesin is rocked!
Jokinen cracks Wegesin with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Oh Wegesin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Jokinen lands a slapping body shot.
Wegesin is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Wegesin needs to keep his hands up - Jokinen had a free shot at his head there.

Jokinen rushes Wegesin and presses him up against the cage.
Wegesin jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jokinen walks away with a smile on his face. Wegesin gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for DJ Wegesin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jokinen cracks Wegesin with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Wegesin tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Jokinen pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Wegesin is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Otso Jokinen!
