PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Spoon McGinty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Corey Cormier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cormier has chosen Pharoahe Monch - Simon Says as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Spoon McGinty!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Corey Cormier!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

McGinty feints and as Cormier raises his hands in defense, McGinty changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

McGinty is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Cormier is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Cormier has escaped and now he's on top!

McGinty is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Cormier still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Cormier has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close second round but I would say that Spoon McGinty will probably get the nod.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for McGinty, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
