Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Glen Quagmire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeffrey Luke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Glen Quagmire!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Jeffrey Luke!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Atkins and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The crowd cheers as Quagmire lands an impressive looking overhand right. Luke doesn't seem phased though.
Quagmire misses with a looping right.
Quagmire connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Luke throws a wild body kick that Quagmire sees coming a mile off.
Luke displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Quagmire throws out the jab.

Luke clinches.
Luke lands a nice knee to the body.
Quagmire tries to circle away but Luke has him pinned against the cage.
Luke throws a knee to the head but misses.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Luke.
Quagmire on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Luke manages to break the clinch.
Quagmire throws a lazy right hand but Luke sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Nice takedown defense from Quagmire. No joy for Luke on that attempt.
A nice inside leg kick there by Quagmire. That's going to slow Luke down.
Glen Quagmire seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Quagmire uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Luke has time to react.
Luke throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

A bone on bone clash there as Quagmire blocks the leg kick.
Quagmire throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Quagmire circles away from the clinch attempt.
Quagmire pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Quagmire fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Luke manages to avoid it.
Luke throws a lazy head kick
and Luke takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Luke counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
A big right from Luke misses.
Quagmire misses with a hook.
Luke throws a head kick but Quagmire moves out of range.
Quagmire throws a body punch but Luke moves out of range.
Luke slips under a jab from Quagmire.
Quagmire is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Luke.

Luke uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Quagmire.
Luke moves out of range as Quagmire strikes.
Quagmire throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Luke.
Luke finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Quagmire scores with a crisp jab that stopped Luke in his tracks.
Luke walks into a stiff left hand from Quagmire.

and Luke counters with a nice low kick that buckles Quagmire's knee momentarily.
Luke gets cracked there but stands up to it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Quagmire swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Luke.

Luke changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Quagmire looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Luke throws an elbow but Quagmire slips to the side and avoids it well.

Luke stands up.
Luke feints and then cracks Quagmire's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Quagmire down.

Luke is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Quagmire's half guard.
Luke wants to pass the guard but Quagmire is defending well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Luke trying to control the action but Quagmire is working from the bottom.
Luke controlling the pace.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Quagmire tries to get to full guard but Luke has control of the leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Glen Quagmire will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Glen Quagmire is winning the standup battle so far.
Luke shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Quagmire sprawls well. Quagmire wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Luke gets slowly back to his feet.
Luke looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Quagmire is fending him off so far but Luke persists. Nope, Quagmire circles away and we're back to standing.

and Luke counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Quagmire lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Luke moves into the clinch.
Quagmire throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Lukes head.
Luke throws a knee to the head but misses.

Quagmire pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Luke misses with an attempted mid kick.
Quagmire lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Quagmire.
Luke takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

and Luke counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Quagmire has control of Luke's left arm, preventing Luke from doing any damage.
Luke wants to pass the guard but Quagmire is keeping the position.
Luke cracks Quagmire with a solid left hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Quagmire has a closed guard, preventing Luke from standing up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Quagmire is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Luke is controlling him.
Quagmire has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Luke stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Quagmire swivels though and keeps the full guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Luke controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Luke trying to control the position from guard on top but Quagmire is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Glen Quagmire will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Luke shoots in looking for a takedown. Quagmire tries to sprawl out of it but Luke keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Quagmire manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Quagmire tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Luke uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Quagmire.
Luke takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Luke keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Quagmire.
Luke walks into a stiff left hand from Quagmire.

A nice right hand lands inside from Quagmire.
Quagmire is working Luke over against the cage.
Quagmire managing to block the knees to the body from Luke.
Luke misses with a knee to the head.
Quagmire wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Luke wants a takedown.
Luke takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Luke throws a knee to the head but misses.

Quagmire working some nice short punches in the clinch.
A short body shot lands from Quagmire as the two fighters clinch.

Quagmire manages to break the clinch.
Luke on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Quagmire throws a monster overhand right that drops Luke! Quagmire follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!
