PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Logan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Prince Symbol (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Logan comes to the cage accompanied by Devildriver - Devils Son. Prince Symbol told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Logan!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Prince Symbol!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Felipe Paraventi and Luis Engracia.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Symbol changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Logan tries to avoid it but Symbol manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Logan to the ground. Logan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Symbol shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Logan as he jumps to the side.
Logan moves out of range of the strikes.

Symbol shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Symbol throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Logan tries to roll over but Symbol keeps him under control.
Symbol is trying to control the action in half guard but Logan is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Logan tries to get to full guard but Symbol has control of the leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Symbol working over Logan with some ground and pound. Logan looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Logan is looking for a sweep. Symbol is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Logan keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Logan is trying to maintain the position but Symbol is very close to passing his half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Logan tries to bum rush Symbol with a series of wild strikes but Symbol uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Symbol fails with a takedown attempt.
James Logan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Prince Symbol.
Logan misses with a looping right.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Symbol.
A slow jab from Logan misses its intended target.
Horrible takedown by Symbol or perhaps it was just good defense by Logan which made him look bad.

Symbol shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Logan wants to sweep here but Symbol controlling him for the moment.
Logan is trying to control the position but Symbol postures up.
Symbol throws a strike but Logan rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Logan wants to get up but he can't break Symbol's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Logan tries to clinch up but Symbol circles away and keeps his distance.
Symbol fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Symbol ducks right into an uppercut from Logan.
Symbol shoots for a takedown but Logan saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Logan. Symbol does a little dance to reset his feet.
Logan lands with a shot to the body.
James Logan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Logan lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Logan scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

Symbol shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Symbol lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Logan makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Logan.

Symbol slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Logan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Logan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Symbol is one step ahead there.
Logan controls Symbol momentarily but Symbol frees himself.
Symbol stands up over Logan, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Symbol must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Symbol cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Oh Logan is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Symbol prevents Logan from getting the reversal.
Logan seems to have got his legs back now.
Logan in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Symbol pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Logan can't escape the position.
Symbol scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Logan?

Symbol has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Logan's face.
Symbol fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Symbol lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Symbol lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Symbol unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Logan wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Symbol celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
