0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mauricio Carter! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Tarja Halkonen and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carter wants to slow Trayne down by chopping away at his legs. Trayne tries to clinch but Carter is having none of it. Carter tried to score with a low kick but Trayne checks it. Trayne is looking to clinch. Trayne tries to clinch up but Carter circles away and keeps his distance. Carter shoots in but no luck this time. Trayne tries to clinch there but Carter circles away.
Trayne tries for a takedown but Carter sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Carter pulls out of a head kick attempt.
An inside leg kick lands from Trayne. Trayne is looking to clinch but Carter is avoiding it.
Trayne fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. A solid leg kick lands there for Carter.
Trayne rushes Carter and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Carter keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Trayne's efforts to push away. Trayne has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Carter uses from the top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carter scoring with some ground and pound. Carter thows a big elbow that misses. Carter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Trayne. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Carter looking to sit in guard and control but Trayne gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Carter keeping full guard, as Trayne tries to pass. Trayne won't allow Carter to get back to his feet. Carter looking for a sweep. Not yet Carter, not yet. Carter is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Trayne postures up in Carter's guard and throws a big left but Carter blocks it. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Carter can do anything to dispel that myth.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Carter throws a leg kick so Trayne counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Trayne wants to control from the top but Carter keeps moving. Carter is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Carter keeping moving, preventing Trayne from controlling successfully. Carter avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carter is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Trayne looking to pass the guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Trayne preventing the sweep.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Carter walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Trayne checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Trayne tries to clinch there but Carter circles away.
Carter throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Trayne. Trayne really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Carter throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Trayne is breathing heavily. Trayne moves in looking to clinch but Carter pushes him off. Trayne instigates a clinch. Carter is working for takedown but Trayne is calmly controlling the position for now. Trayne pulls guard. Trayne is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Carter scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Carter stands up over Trayne, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Carter thows a big elbow that misses. Carter distracts Trayne with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Carter working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Trayne's head. Trayne might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Carter trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Trayne trying to keep a closed guard but Carter is proving a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Cho Kli Trayne will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Carter goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Carter throws a front kick aimed at Trayne's knee but Trayne avoids it well. Carter throws a leg kick and Trayne counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Trayne. Carter tries to land a sweep but no joy. Trayne tries to free his leg and advance position but Carter is retaining full guard. Carter is adopting a defensive guard. Carter looking to hit a scissor sweep but Trayne is one step ahead there. Trayne decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carter swats away the attempt to clinch by Trayne. Trayne throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Carter throws a leg kick and Trayne makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Trayne moves out of range of the leg kick from Carter. Mauricio Carter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Carter throws a leg kick but Trayne moved away. Trayne shoots in for a takedown but Carter shows good takedown defense. Carter shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Carter showed some decent athleticism there. Carter looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Trayne is looking for a sweep. Carter is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Nice strikes from Carter there. Carter is nestled in close to Trayne, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Carter lands a nice short elbow. Carter landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Cho Kli Trayne overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Trayne wants to get back to full guard. Carter is nestled in close to Trayne, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Carter is looking to take a break and control but Trayne is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Carter takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mauricio Carter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

That did some damage! Trayne tries to clinch up but Carter circles away and keeps his distance. Carter looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Carter throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Trayne has a takedown stuffed. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cho Kli Trayne. That's going to take a lot out of him. Trayne is looking to clinch but Carter is avoiding it.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Cho Kli Trayne. I think Trayne has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
