PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James McNulty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hutch Gibson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McNulty kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Enter Sandman by Metallica. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James McNulty !
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hutch Gibson!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gibson staying out of range there.
Gibson goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Gibson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from McNulty .
Gibson moves away from the strike by McNulty .
McNulty lands a nice looking body shot.
McNulty tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gibson was well out of range. Poor timing from McNulty .
McNulty scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
McNulty swinging wildly here.
McNulty fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gibson manages to avoid it.
McNulty throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
McNulty throws a right and a left that both miss.
McNulty lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.


It looks like Hutch Gibson has been cut.
McNulty clobbers Gibson with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Gibson on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
McNulty wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
McNulty lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
James McNulty seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McNulty scores with a one two! Gibson had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Gibson misses with a hook. McNulty ducked under it nicely.
McNulty works the jab nicely.
McNulty waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Gibson.
McNulty lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
McNulty scores with a nice right hand.
McNulty comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Nice uppercut lands for McNulty . That snapped Gibson's head back.
McNulty throws a series of strikes that have Gibson backpedaling.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gibson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
McNulty looks to land a left hand but Gibson moved out of range nicely.
Gibson doesn't manage to clinch there - McNulty circles away.
McNulty rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gibson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
McNulty lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
McNulty throws a right hand that Gibson ducks under and follows up with a left that Gibson also avoids with ease.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McNulty throws out a powerful jab.
McNulty throws a series of punches but Gibson avoids them all with ease.
McNulty slips under a jab.
McNulty fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gibson manages to avoid it.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Gibson.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by McNulty !
No joy there for Gibson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
McNulty comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
McNulty throws a right and a left that both miss.
Gibson fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
McNulty throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
McNulty throws a shot to the body.
McNulty is working the combinations to good effect here.
McNulty blocks a head kick by Gibson.
McNulty throws a series of punches but Gibson avoids them all with ease.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McNulty throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Gibson on the side of the head.
McNulty smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
McNulty connects with a single shot there.
McNulty stalks Gibson and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Gibson's face. Gibson staggers backwards, shaken.

Good leg kick by Gibson there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
McNulty falls off balance throwing a combination
and Gibson counters with an inside leg kick.
No luck for Gibson with that takedown attempt.
James McNulty has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hutch Gibson.
McNulty lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Gibson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Gibson looks gassed!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

McNulty is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Gibson rolls with it to try and escape but McNulty cranks on the arm and Gibson is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). James McNulty !
