The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
smith rushes Samarov and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
smith tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Samarov blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Samarov has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Samarov tries to break the clinch but smith is controlling the position.
Samarov wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but smith has him pressed against the cage.
smith fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Samarov blocks an uppercut.
smith misses with a punch on the inside.

Samarov gets control of smith's arms and successfully pulls guard. Samarov will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

and Samarov counters with a crisp one two that drops smith! Samarov thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves smith to his feet! smith is in big trouble!
Samarov dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Samarov throws a head kick but smith moves out of range.
A combination from Samarov does no damage.
Samarov throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent smith stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

smith avoids a punch combination nicely.
smith takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Samarov steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! smith is out on his feet! Samarov sets himself and nearly takes smith's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!
