PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between DJ Wen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Khara Al Matayze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wen comes to the cage accompanied by Lick it up. Khara Al Matayze told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, DJ Wen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Khara Al Matayze!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Bruno Hogan and Steve Erwin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wen gets caught flat footed, as Al Matayze shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Al Matayze drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Al Matayze jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Al Matayze trying to control the position from guard on top but Wen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Al Matayze has gone for a leg lock! Wen slips out almost immediately though and dives into Al Matayze's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wen stands up over Al Matayze, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Wen could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Wen is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Al Matayze escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Wen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Al Matayze has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wen has managed to get both his arms back between Al Matayze's legs - danger averted.

Al Matayze looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Wen has picked Al Matayze up and slammed him! Al Matayze can't keep hold of the triangle and Wen manages to pass to side control!

Wen is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Al Matayze can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Al Matayze checks a leg kick.
Al Matayze misses with a takedown attempt - Wen sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Al Matayze counters with a shoot takedown. Wen fights it but they end up in guard.
Wen is looking to stand up but Al Matayze isn't so interested in that idea.

Al Matayze drops back looking for a leg! Wen is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wen manages to kick Al Matayze off! Al Matayze jumps back into Wen's guard.

Al Matayze tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Al Matayze has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Khara Al Matayze showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Wen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Al Matayze might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Wen kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Al Matayze moves into the clinch.
Al Matayze is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Wen tries to pull guard but Al Matayze holds him up against the cage and eventually Wen drops back down to his feet.
Al Matayze is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Wen pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Al Matayze shoots in and drives through. Wen sprawls well.

Al Matayze gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
