Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Oscar Roberts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Lanier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lanier is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Sage Francis-Sea Lion. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roberts swinging wildly here.

Lanier shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Roberts manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Roberts wants to get back to his feet but Lanier is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Roberts is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lanier is controlling him.

Roberts pushes Lanier off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Roberts lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Lanier backs up against the cage.

Lanier changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Roberts tries to avoid it but Lanier manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Roberts to the ground. Roberts escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Lanier counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Roberts has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Lanier off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Roberts fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lanier.

Lanier throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Roberts was covering up waiting for the punch and Lanier finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Roberts wants to get back to his feet but Lanier is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Roberts manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Roberts shoots in and bounces Lanier off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Lanier manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Lanier jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Roberts manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Roberts tries to escape but Lanier is in control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Roberts wants to get back to his feet but Lanier drags him back down.

Lanier thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Roberts is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Roberts gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Lanier counters with a takedown into side control.

Lanier is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Roberts has escaped the position, nice work there.

Roberts bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Roberts lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lanier circles away quickly and effectively.
Roberts throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

so Lanier counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Roberts wriggles free and stands up.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Lanier won't allow Roberts to get back to his feet.

Lanier wants to control from the top but Roberts keeps moving.

Lanier drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lanier jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Lanier thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Roberts moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Lanier shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Roberts is trying to defend but Lanier finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Roberts leaves Lanier with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Oscar Roberts seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Roberts fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lanier sprawls well initially but Roberts persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Roberts is thwarting Lanier's attempts to control the position.

Roberts wants to work for an arm triangle but Lanier is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Lanier is looking to improve his position.
Roberts looks to land a strike but Lanier avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Roberts is in close to Lanier's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Andrew Lanier has got the better of the ground game so far.
Roberts postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Roberts drops back, looking for a kneebar! Lanier looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Lanier looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Lanier!
Roberts is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Lanier has hold of Roberts's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Roberts tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Lanier cranks the arm and Roberts screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Roberts, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
