Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between BJ Ericsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Cabeza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cabeza has chosen Chemical brothers - Where Do I Start as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Cabeza! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by Ericsson. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cabeza can do anything to dispel that myth. Cabeza is looking to regain half guard here but Ericsson keeps moving and retains side control. Ericsson working the ground and pound. Ericsson cracks Cabeza with a big right hand but Cabeza just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cabeza tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ericsson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Ericsson avoids the strikes from the bottom by Cabeza. Ericsson creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Cabeza sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Ericsson trying to control the action but Cabeza is working from the bottom. Cabeza takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Cabeza is looking for a sweep. Ericsson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cabeza, who protects the arm well. Ericsson misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ericsson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cabeza knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Ericsson goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Cabeza rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Ericsson's guard! Nice work there by Cabeza! Cabeza really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ericsson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ericsson tries to land a sweep but no joy. Cabeza stands up over Ericsson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Cabeza won't allow Ericsson to sweep him here. Cabeza must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cabeza is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Ericsson will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Cabeza misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
David Cabeza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cabeza displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ericsson throws out the jab. Cabeza swinging wildly here.

Cabeza doesn't succeed with the takedown and Ericsson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cabeza won't be happy with that. You can see the frustration on Cabeza's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Ericsson working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Cabeza is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Ericsson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Cabeza is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cabeza pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Cabeza clinches up with Ericsson and pushes him back against the cage. Cabeza escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That was a close second round but I would say that BJ Ericsson will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Ericsson prevents Cabeza from getting back to his feet.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Cabeza shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Ericsson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ericsson. Ericsson postures up.
Cabeza wants to sweep here but Ericsson controlling him for the moment. Ericsson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ericsson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

It looks like he's going for a triangle but Ericsson is defending well. Cabeza quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Ericsson has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Cabeza celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
