Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kurt Kendall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jerome Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kendall comes into the arena with Kool Moe Dee - I Go To Work blaring out of the sound system. Carter has chosen Ludacris-Move Bitch as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kurt Kendall! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jerome Carter! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Anthony Taglia and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight moves into the clinch position. Carter throws a head punch that misses. Carter blocks an elbow strike. Kendall prevents a takedown attempt there.
Kendall tries to pull guard but Carter holds him up against the cage and eventually Kendall drops back down to his feet.
Carter is trying to break free. Kendall gets underhooks to prevent Carter's takedown attempt.
Carter wants to break the clinch but can't.
Carter throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Kendalls head. Kendall gets a trip takedown into half guard. Kendall thows a huge punch but Carter dodges it nicely.
Carter is staying active underneath Kendall, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Kendall missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Kendall is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Horrible takedown by Kendall or perhaps it was just good defense by Carter which made him look bad. Carter throws a lazy right hand but Kendall sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Kendall moves into the clinch. Kendall's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Kendall breaks the clinch.
Kendall throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Carter's waist but Carter gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kendall off to one side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kurt Kendall. That's going to take a lot out of him. Carter tries to clinch but Kendall moves away and Kendall counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Carter is working an open guard so Kendall takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Carter tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kendall shoots in but Carter avoids the takedown attempt easily. Horrible takedown by Kendall or perhaps it was just good defense by Carter which made him look bad. Carter throws a combination that misses and Kendall counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Kendall breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Carter's corner calls for a 1-2. Carter obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Carter throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Kendall counters with a takedown into side control. The strikes coming from Kendall are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Carter defending against the ground and pound. Kendall stands up and beckons Carter to his feet. Carter throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

Kendall passes Carter's left leg - he's now in half guard. Carter avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Kendall. Kendall thows a huge punch but Carter dodges it nicely.
Kendall misses with a head shot. Carter uses the momentum to regain guard. Kendall trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Carter avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Carter preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Kendall looking to sit in guard and control but Carter gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Carter stays in close to Kendall's body and controls the position. Carter wants to stand and escape but instead Kendall has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Kendall works a leg free and moves into half guard. Carter tries to roll over but Kendall keeps him under control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kurt Kendall dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Carter falls off balance throwing a combination
and Kendall counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kendall accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Kendall drops back, looking for a kneebar! Carter looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Carter looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Carter! Kendall wants to control but Carter postures up. Kendall throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land. Carter decides to stand back up. Carter tries to clinch but Kendall is having none of it. Carter throws a left and a right that both miss
and Kendall moves into the clinch. Carter is breathing heavily. Carter throws a punch but it's blocked by Kendall. Kendall breaks the clinch.
Kendall pushes Carter up against the cage in a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carter escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Carter moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. The fight moves into the clinch position. Kendall effectively controlling the action here. Kendall tries for a takedown. No joy.

Carter wants to stand but Kendall is controlling his posture from full guard. Carter must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. That's two minutes gone in the round. Kendall has his foot on Carter's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carter works his way back into a safe position though. Kendall has control of Carter's left arm, preventing Carter from doing any damage. Carter looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Let's hope that Carter has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Kendall throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Kendall will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Kendall doesn't manage to clinch there - Carter circles away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Carter tries to clinch there but Kendall circles away.
Kendall closes the distance and clinches. Kendall throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Kendall has Carter pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Carter manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Carter tries to break free but Kendall pushes him back against the cage. Kendall scores with a knee to the head.
It looks like Jerome Carter has been cut. Kendall wants a takedown.

Kendall stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kendall wants it to stay on the feet. Carter shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Kendall counters by clinching up. Kendall lands an elbow inside. Kendall drags the fight down to the ground.

Kurt Kendall dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Jerome Carter's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Carter with a poor takedown and Kendall counters with a shoot takedown. Carter fights it but they end up in guard. Kendall trying to control but Carter is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carter controls Kendall momentarily but Kendall frees himself. Kendall with a nice head shot there. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kendall accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Kendall tries to free his leg and advance position but Carter is retaining full guard. Kurt Kendall overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Carter preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Carter takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Kendall is looking to work some ground and pound but Carter has wrist control. Kendall working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Carter avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Carter gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Kendall counters with a nice double leg into guard. Kendall postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Kendall throws a big right hand that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kendall trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Carter keeping moving, preventing Kendall from controlling successfully. Kendall wanted to stand there but Carter had control of the position. Kendall working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Carter's head. Kendall postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Kendall decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Kurt Kendall is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Carter misses the jab. Kendall checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kendall slips under a jab from Carter. Kendall shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Carter is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Kendall scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Carter?

That's four minutes gone in the round. Kendall looking to control but Carter is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Kendall working Carter over with strikes here. Poor strikes thrown by Kendall there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Kendall lands a heavy elbow. Kendall unloading with bombs! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Kendall cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Carter wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Kendall.
Jerome Carter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Kendall lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
And that's the end of the fight! Kurt Kendall showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kendall, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
