Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ben Lagman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, Mark Miller! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Columbo Gatti and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lagman stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lagman wants it to stay on the feet. Lagman throws a low kick but it's checked well by Miller. Miller throws a body punch but Lagman moves out of range. Miller throws and low kick but Lagman moves out of range easily. Lagman throws a nice looking combination but Miller bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Miller dodges the punch combination from Lagman.
Miller tries to clinch but Lagman moves out of range. A combination from Lagman does no damage. Lagman tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Lagman works over Miller's head and body with a nice combination.
It looks like Mark Miller has been cut. Miller fails to land with a series of punches.
Lagman throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Miller counters with an outside leg kick.
Miller lands with an uppercut that bounces Lagman off the cage and back into rage. Miller looks to land a combination but Lagman avoids it well. Lagman throws a nice looking combination but Miller bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Miller avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Lagman lands a jab. Lagman throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Lagman shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lagman is looking for a kimura but Miller is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Lagman to get the leverage. Lagman thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Miller is trying to control but Lagman passes into side control!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Lagman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Miller keeps working. Miller really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lagman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Miller is trying to get back to his feet. Lagman looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Lagman is breathing heavily. Lagman in side control, throwing shots but Miller defends. Lagman throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Miller works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Lagman lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Miller is trying to stand back up but Lagman is controlling him

Lagman not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Lagman is pressing down on Miller's thigh, looking to free his foot. Miller is holding on for now. Lagman throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Lagman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Miller pushes Lagman off looking to stand but Lagman dives back in and keeps control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Lagman bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Miller swings and misses with a shot to the body and Lagman counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Lagman. Lagman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Miller swivels though and keeps the full guard. Lagman distracts Miller with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Lagman wants to control from the top but Miller keeps moving. Miller wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Lagman manages to pass to side control. Miller tries to kick Lagman off but Lagman keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Miller throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
A nice leg kick lands there from Lagman. Lagman has a takedown stuffed. Miller waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Lagman. Lagman avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Lagman gets a clinch. Lagman turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Lagman is trying to get an arm triangle but Miller is defending well. Lagman thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. An elbow from Lagman crashes against the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Miller wants to get back to his feet. Lagman working the ground and pound. Lagman lands a decent elbow from side control. Lagman is trying to get an arm triangle but Miller is defending well. Miller is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Lagman wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Miller, who protects the arm well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lagman tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lagman has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Miller wants to get back to his feet but Lagman drags him back down. Lagman tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Miller takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lagman looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Lagman stands up and beckons Miller to his feet. Miller doesn't manage to clinch there - Lagman circles away.
Mark Miller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lagman fails with the takedown. Miller misses with a double jab
and Lagman counters with a takedown into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Miller is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Miller tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad. Miller is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Lagman working Miller over with strikes here. Lagman working the ground and pound effectively.
Lagman goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Miller is on top in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Lagman punching from the bottom - just letting Miller know he's still in a fight. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fight stays on the outside here - Miller looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Miller showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Lagman.

Lagman throws a right hand that Miller ducks under and follows up with a left that Miller also avoids with ease. Lagman gets a clinch. Lagman is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Miller gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Miller tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Miller wants to get back to striking at distance but Lagman won't allow it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Miller wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Miller trying to stall but Lagman improves his position.
Miller looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Lagman has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Miller is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Miller is trying to break free.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lagman has Miller pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Lagman pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Miller tumbling to the mat - Lagman dives into Miller's guard. Lagman won't allow Miller to get back to his feet. Lagman working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Lagman wants to pass the guard but Miller is keeping the position. Lagman wants to control from the top but Miller keeps moving. Lagman working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Miller's head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lagman trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Miller has momentary wrist control but Lagman slips an elbow through the middle. Lagman distracts Miller with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Miller keeping moving, preventing Lagman from controlling successfully. Lagman working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Miller's head. Lagman postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Lagman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Miller swivels though and keeps the full guard. Miller is looking to stand up but Lagman isn't so interested in that idea.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lagman missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Lagman throwing strikes but missing. Lagman distracts Miller with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Lagman is in close to Miller's body, working some short punches and elbows. Lagman looking to sit in guard and control but Miller gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Lagman keeping moving, preventing Miller from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Lagman striking from the bottom here. Lagman is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Lagman is pressing down on Miller's thigh, looking to free his foot. Miller is holding on for now. Mark Miller has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Miller regains full guard. Nicely done. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Miller preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Ben Lagman is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Lagman distracts Miller with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
And that's the end of the fight! Ben Lagman showed his dominance in that final round. Well Lagman has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
