Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 2, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Gustavsson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ulf Minutsak! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Dmitry Maklakov and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gustavsson gets in close and instigates a clinch. Gustavsson avoids a wild elbow strike from Minutsak. Minutsak missing with knees to the body.
Minutsak taking a breather. Minutsak is looking to break free of the clinch but Gustavsson has double underhooks. Minutsak tries to circle away but Gustavsson has him pinned against the cage. Gustavsson looks to throw an elbow but misses. Gustavsson lands an elbow inside. Minutsak blocks an elbow strike. Minutsak tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Gustavsson smiles and moves away.
Gustavsson gets caught flat footed, as Minutsak shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Gustavsson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Minutsak gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Minutsak trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Minutsak in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Gustavsson looking to control.
Gustavsson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Minutsak defends it easily. Minutsak postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Minutsak's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Minutsak working some strikes from top position. Gustavsson wants to sweep here but Minutsak controlling him for the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Minutsak avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Gustavsson looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gustavsson trying to keep a closed guard but Minutsak is proving a slippery customer.
Gustavsson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Gustavsson is breathing heavily. Minutsak stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gustavsson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Gustavsson working for a triangle but Minutsak defends it easily.
Minutsak with a flurry of punches that miss. Gustavsson avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Minutsak postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Minutsak trying to control but Gustavsson is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Minutsak trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Minutsak lands a couple of decent looking shots. Gustavsson keeping moving, preventing Minutsak from controlling successfully. Minutsak landing some decent shots from guard.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Gustavsson avoids the head kick by Minutsak.
Gustavsson tries to clinch up but Minutsak circles away and keeps his distance. Gustavsson moves into the clinch. Minutsak takes an elbow to the temple. Minutsak pushes Gustavsson back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Minutsak wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Minutsak blocks the elbow strike.
Minutsak tries to break the clinch but Gustavsson is controlling the position. Minutsak avoids the elbow strike from Gustavsson, against the cage.
Minutsak breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Minutsak keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Minutsak throws a head kick but Gustavsson moves out of range.

Gustavsson moves in looking to clinch but Minutsak pushes him off. Gustavsson tries to close the distance and clinch but Minutsak swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gustavsson ducks under a wild hook from Minutsak. Gustavsson looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Minutsak! Gustavsson looking for a guillotine from mount but Minutsak is having none of it. Minutsak really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Minutsak bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Gustavsson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Minutsak defends well. Minutsak scoring with punches to the head and body. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Minutsak decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gustavsson, up you get! Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Minutsak fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Gustavsson tries to clinch but Minutsak is having none of it. Minutsak lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Minutsak. Gustavsson is looking to clinch but Minutsak is avoiding it.
Gustavsson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gustavsson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Minutsak is pushing Gustavsson's head away, looking to escape. Gustavsson manages to hold on to the position though. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Minutsak gets back to half guard. Gustavsson seems to be looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Alexander Gustavsson will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Minutsak pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Minutsak moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Minutsak has closed the distance and engaged Gustavsson in a clinch.
Minutsak's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Gustavsson tries to close the distance and clinch but Minutsak swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Gustavsson wants to clinch up but Minutsak keeps it at a distance. Minutsak misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Minutsak closes the distance and pushes Gustavsson back into the cage. A nice glancing elbow lands by Gustavsson. Minutsak takes an elbow to the temple. Gustavsson lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Gustavsson is fighting off a takedown attempt but Minutsak is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Gustavsson to the mat. Gustavsson regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Gustavsson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Minutsak defends well. Gustavsson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Minutsak doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Minutsak manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Minutsak trying to control but Gustavsson is working from the bottom.

He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Minutsak lands a couple of decent looking shots. Gustavsson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Minutsak doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Gustavsson is tightening it up a little... Minutsak has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Minutsak reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Minutsak taps out! nice BJJ there by Gustavsson!
