The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Matheus Silva and Felipe Paraventi.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez looks to score with a jab to the body but Pyle is just out of range.

Alvarez shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Pyle manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Alvarez wants to pass the guard but Pyle is keeping the position.
Alvarez passes Pyle's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Alvarez trying to control the action but Pyle is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alvarez seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Alvarez wants to advance to full mount but Pyle doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Alvarez wants to pass the guard but Pyle is keeping the position.

Alvarez tries to free his leg and advance position but Pyle is retaining full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Pyle shoots in looking for a takedown. Alvarez tries to sprawl out of it but Pyle keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Alvarez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Alvarez is on top in guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Pyle is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Alvarez is controlling him well.

Alvarez is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Pyle has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Pyle!
