PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Curtis Lind (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Currie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Currie has chosen Helmet - Just Another Victim as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Curtis Lind!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Currie!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, David Schapiro and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Lind.
Lind takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Lind throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Lind uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Currie.
Lind closes the distance and clinches up with Currie, looking for a takedown. Lind pushes Currie against the cage but Currie circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Currie throws a half hearted mid kick.
Lind throws a head kick but Currie moves out of range.
Lind looks to land a left hand but Currie moved out of range nicely.
A swing and a miss from Lind.
Lind steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Currie.
Currie fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lind shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Currie avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Lind throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Currie counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Currie crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Lind - the referee stops the clock and Currie gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Lind. Currie manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Lind pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Currie avoids the head kick by Lind.
Currie throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Lind is looking to land body kicks.
David Currie is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Lind lands with a kick to the temple. Currie shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Currie swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Lind tries to clinch but Currie moves away
and Lind takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Currie scores with a nice head shot.
Currie stuns Lind with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Lind throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Lind uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Currie.
Currie avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Lind drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Currie fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lind manages to avoid it.
Lind tries to clinch but Currie is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lind buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Lind lands with a nice combination. Currie backs away looking to recover.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Currie drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
A nice leg kick lands there from Lind.
Lind throws a leg kick but Currie sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Lind misses with a low kick as Currie jumps back.
Lind darts in trying to clinch
and Currie counters with a left and a right that stings Lind.
Lind rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Currie moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Currie throws a leg kick but Lind sees it coming and moves out of range.
Currie thuds a left hand into Lind's body.
Lind scores with a kick to the body.
Lind is looking to clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A slapping leg kick lands for Lind.
Lind changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Currie tries to avoid it but Lind manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Currie to the ground. Currie escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A head kick by Currie misses
and Lind counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Lind drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Currie tries to escape but Lind is in control.
Lind throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Currie struggling a bit here.
Currie is trying to improve his position.
Lind misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Lind has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Currie can't do much from the bottom here.
Sloppy strikes there by Lind.
Currie wants to control but Lind postures up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Lind lands a high kick!
Lind clinches but Currie breaks the clinch
and Currie counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Currie tries a head kick but it misses.
Lind motions for Currie to come forward. Lind throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Currie lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A slapping leg kick lands for Lind.
Currie clobbers Lind with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Currie takes a head kick and keeps coming.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but David Currie will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Lind will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Currie throws a sloppy head kick and Lind moves out of range easily.
Lind looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Lind has taken the fight to the clinch.
Currie scores with a nice hook to the head.
Lind stalling against the cage.
Lind is looking to control Currie's arms but Currie gets an underhook and turns him. Now Lind has his back to the cage.
Lind throws an elbow that misses.

Lind's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Lind walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Currie checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Currie takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Lind lands a glancing blow to the side of Currie's head.
Lind wants to clinch up but Currie keeps it at a distance.
Curtis Lind seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Currie throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

so Lind counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Lind wants to pass the guard but Currie is keeping the position.

Currie working for a triangle but Lind defends it easily.
Lind passes Currie's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Lind with the ground and pound but Currie uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Currie avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Lind trying to control the position from guard on top but Currie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lind passes Currie's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Lind trying to control the action but Currie is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lind wants to control from the top but Currie keeps moving.

Lind has gone for a leg lock! Currie slips out almost immediately though and dives into Lind's guard.
Currie content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Currie thows a big elbow that misses.

Currie decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Currie slips under a jab.
Currie throws a head kick but Lind moves out of range.

Currie ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
David Currie seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Lind tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Currie was well out of range. Poor timing from Lind.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Currie checks a leg kick.
Currie defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lind.

Lind keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Lind throws a looping overhand right but Currie ducks down to avoid it.
Lind is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

and Currie counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Currie lands a glancing blow to the side of Lind's head.

David Currie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Lind's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Currie takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Currie fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Lind on the side of the head.

Currie takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Lind lands with a thumping leg kick.
Lind tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Currie counters with a stiff right hand.

Lind throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Currie sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Lind pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Currie throws a body punch but Lind moves out of range.
Lind tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Currie paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Lind darts in and clinches Currie up against the cage.
Currie working aggressively here.
Lind is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Currie is defending well for now.

Lind misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Currie.
Lind can't find room to land a body shot as Currie controls the action.

Lind tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Lind gets control of Currie's arms and successfully pulls guard. Lind will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Currie sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lind's guard.
Currie looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Currie wants to control but Lind is keeping him busy.
Currie is looking to stall here but Lind recovers full guard.
Currie's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Curtis Lind has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
David Currie is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Lind pulls Currie in close to prevent any damage.
Lind is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Lind is working for a submission of some sort.
Currie manages to get to full guard.
Lind trying to control the position from guard on top but Currie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Currie seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Lind throwing strikes from guard but Currie blocks nicely.
Lind loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Lind throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Currie works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Lind looking to pass the guard.
Currie bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lind's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Curtis Lind showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Currie has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
